East Glos is proud to be a member of the Association of Centenary Tennis Clubs (CTC), comprising 98 clubs in 29 countries. East Glos members regularly take part in CTC tournaments.

Last weekend we fielded two teams, travelling to the Wi******er Racquets Club for the Anglo-Irish tournament and the Friendly Doubles tournament at the Carrickmines Lawn Tennis Club in Dublin.

GLOUCESTERSHIRE MEN'S 060s PADEL TEAM COMES AGONISINGLY CLOSE TO NATIONAL TITLE

Last weekend, East Glos members represented Gloucestershire at the over-60s Padel County Cup at Rocket Padel Bristol.

The Gloucestershire men enjoyed a superb campaign, which included a win in the semi-finals against last year’s champions, Yorkshire. They then came agonisingly close to claiming the national title, losing to Surrey only 10-8 in the deciding championship tie-break.

The mixed team also enjoyed a fantastic run to the final, where they lost to a very strong East of Scotland side.

The ladies' team also performed well, reaching the quarter-finals before suffering a heart-breaking defeat on a championship tie-break to Lancashire.

East Glos players participating were:
• Louise Dalglish, Jane Hancock, Maeve O'Rorke (Captain), Sally Pendry, Ju Rawlings, Heather Sheridan, Liz Sim.
• Stuart Beattie, Roger Bell (Captain), Gareth Jones, Kieron Penrose, Seb Poccard.

DANIEL DELIVERS TOP FIVE PERFORMANCE AT BU15 DEBUT

East Glos Junior Maverick squash player Daniel has secured fifth place at the Welsh Junior Open — his first BU15 international event, just three weeks after entering the age group. This follows his excellent second place finish at the Dutch Junior Open at U13.

Daniel delivered disciplined, composed performances throughout the weekend, showcasing his attacking style and positive court positioning.

He dropped only three games, all in his quarter final against Timothy Kok, the Singapore #1 and a year older.

Kok finished fourth, with Daniel placing directly behind him; all four players above Daniel were a year or more older, underlining the strength of his result.

Daniel responded superbly after the quarter final, producing a controlled performance to secure fifth.

His start provides a strong platform as he moves into upcoming Gold and Platinum events across the 2026–27 season.

CLOSE FINAL FOR CLUB PADEL JUNIOR ETHAN

Ethan (pictured right) and his partner Myles from Bristol were runners-up yesterday in a Grade 3 men's tournament in Exeter. They were Just edged out 7-6, 7-5 in the final, but overcame very strong opposition to get there.

EAST GLOS PERFORMANCE JUNIORS DOMINATE AT TENNIS COUNTY CLOSED

The Gloucestershire County Closed, sponsored by The Mortgage Brain took place last week at East Glos. Over 100 competitors participated entrants in 32 events.

Performance coach Melissa Russell reports on an extraordinary showing for East Glos performance players.

The hard work, discipline, and grit of our players were on full display, and the results speak for themselves:
• Eighteen titles won: Out of 29 events entered, club performance players took home 18 trophies.
• Twenty finalists: In 20 separate events, our players earned well-deserved runner-up finishes.

Standout performances
• Sam Austin: An inspiration to everyone at the club, showing us all the true meaning of strength and resilience on and off the court.
• Seb: A phenomenal run, securing three county titles and one runner-up finish.
• Eva: Dominated her draws, sweeping all three of her events to take home a hat-trick of titles.

Congratulations to all the competitors and to our dedicated coaching team whose daily efforts make results like this possible.

As a club, we take huge pride in the deep experience of our coaching staff. From local county titles and national championships to securing American University scholarships and international rankings, our pathway continues to deliver top-tier results.

Thank you to our entire community for the ongoing support. Enjoy the rest of the break—we can't wait to see everyone back on the courts for the start of term!

A grand day out in Yorkshire for East Glos ladies.

The East Glos over-50 ladies' tennis team travelled to Huddersfield yesterday to play their quarter-final match in the LTA National Club League.

It was a tough match with the opposition fielding two GB players, but our ladies fought hard and achieved a 2-2 draw. Unfortunately they lost the tie by three games, but a great day was had by all!
