Introducing your UoC Men’s Cricket Committee for the 25/26 season.

Last week saw Chester win for the 3rd time this year.

Chester lost the toss and were put into bat. A missed opportunity as Chester started the game with only 10 players due to Sam's misguided captaincy priorities.

Who misses cricket for an exam..... it can't get any worse can it.

The openers saw off the new ball, with Joe back last week, and batters 3 and 5, Josh and Ben went on to both get their first 50s for Chester.

Ultimately, the total of 238 was too high to chase, despite a frankly dismal fielding display. No game today, due to the AU awards. We go again next week.

Today's fixture sees us play our last home fixture of the season.

We also see James play his last game for Chester, as he takes the gloves today. (He thinks he can escape bowling that way)

Sam returns to the squad after a heavy exam schedule, we think......

And who can forget Molly, who practically carries the team, week in week out. She obviously plays again today, especially after last week's phantom six. More of the same today from the 'Topspin coaching' accountant we hope.

Match is on!

Lancaster away today. Big game.

2 GAMES PLAYED, 2 WINS

Game week 2: Match review

Chester lost the toss and were put into field. The sun baked down on the pitch, and the captain thought fielding earlier in the day with slightly less warm conditions worked in our favour.

Chester conceded a heap of runs early doors, MMU taking ten an over, for the first 4 overs of the game. Chester then tightened the bowling up. Sam taking crucial wickets, including a scalp from the world’s worst bouncer, that had started to dip when the batsman clothed it into the air.

Josh Allman went wicket-less but bowled 8 overs through, going for very few runs. Molly and Noah bowling in tandem both taking wickets.

Overall MMU were bowled out for a chase-able 169.

And chase is what Chester did.

Joe and Lewis opened the batting, combining for 49 before Lewis bunted a ball to mid on, after a series of 4s and one 6.

Josh Allman starred again making a quick 39 in hot conditions. The next wicket to fall was Joe for 11, and James came in.

James channelled his inner Adam Gilchrist, also hitting his first 6 for Chester, and scoring a healthy 26.

Ben joined the action for his first bat for Sale *CHESTER*

Anath and Paridhi finished the job in style with back to back boundaries, to take Chester to 170 with 6 overs to spare.

MOTM went to Josh Allman, who will miss next week to conduct a presentation for uni - needs to get his priories in order obviously.

D.O.D was split AGAIN between Sam and Lewis.

Lancaster away next week. A real 6 pointer. Bosh.

CHESTER WIN!

Was it ever in doubt….

A tough days cricket saw us take victory against LJMU

Noah and Barath combining for a 10th wicket 42 run partnership.

Wickets came from every bowler - apart from the captain. Lewis fired in with 2 wickets with his BLISTERING pace. Anath took 3 wickets going for just 16 runs, Molly went 1/1 off 1 over. Parish i took 2fer on debut and Noah took a wicket also.

We go again next week

GAME DAY IS HERE

Today we travel to for our inaugural game of 2025.

A late squad change as Sid joins us for his first game for the club.

Some familiar faces return with Lewis, Sam, James, and Josh Allman.

And in particular .haslam who returns from her previous year’s sabbatical after taking a year out trying to trademark Cheese in a bag.

Debuts are plenty today, as we hope to start the season strong.
