UK Asbestos Training Association Ltd UKATA sets standards in asbestos training and ensures that its members meet those standards. https: UKATA provides a quality standard for that training.

It is legal requirement that all who may come across asbestos in their day to day work have been provided with asbestos awareness training. If they will intentionally work on asbestos they must have had appropriate training specific to the tasks they will undertake. Any organisation that allows builders or maintenance personnel onto their premises should ensure that they have evidence of asbestos awareness training. When asbestos is to be worked upon deliberately, using a UKATA member to provide that training ensures that the training provider has the facilities, knowledge and experience to properly undertake that training.

UKATA was delighted to once again support and sponsor the NORAC Annual Conference and Awards, held on 1 October 2026 at the Manchester Marriott Victoria & Albert Hotel.

The event brought together a great mix of experience from across the industry and provided some valuable opportunities to discuss current issues and catch up with colleagues. It was also great to see the achievements of those working across our sector recognised at the awards, including Colette Willoughby who received an honorary award.

UKATA Director and Deputy Chair Adam Harding is speaking at the 4th Chromium ESG Technical Conference in Gothenburg, Sweden, on 6-7 October.

Adam will deliver a session on ‘Developing Chromium VI Training Standards under EU & UK Regulations’, sharing UKATA’s experience and exploring the importance of effective training in managing occupational exposure to Chromium VI.

We’re looking forward to attending Mesothelioma UK ’s 21st annual Patient & Carer Day at the King Power Stadium in Leicester on Thursday 1 October.

UK Asbestos Training Association Ltd 's Quality Assurance Manager, Liam Pembleton, will be representing UKATA at the event, which brings together people living with mesothelioma, their families and carers, healthcare professionals and organisations supporting the mesothelioma community.

The day provides an important opportunity to learn and connect, while hearing about the latest developments in mesothelioma treatment and support.

UKATA recently exhibited at the Contamination & Land Remediation Expo , held on 16–17 September 2026 at the NEC Birmingham.

UKATA was also pleased to be joined by a number of its members exhibiting at the event, including Element, SOCOTEC and Tetra Tech, along with charity partners Mesothelioma UK.

The UKATA team had the chance to take on the “Pipetting Challenge” from Environmental Chemistry Testing, putting its accuracy to the test by creating the target dilutions of 20:1, 5:1 and 2:1. The team also took on the 2 kg Sampling Challenge, filling the container with what they believed was exactly 2 kg of soil.

The challenges certainly put their skills to the test, and UKATA was delighted to come away with a sparkling prize for winning!
