Hawks vs Barlborough u8s

The Hawks were in action today, over at Hollingwood in what was our last game of the season and what an incredible season it has been, but before we move onto that, a huge shout out to today's opponents, Barlborough, who despite the scoreline never once let their heads drop and worked hard from the 1st minute to the last. A huge credit to their team.

For the Hawks, plenty of goals today and plenty of exciting chances and they all showed excellent moments, some great passing and on the occasions we did need our keeper, Olivia came out and made that great save to tip a definite goal onto the crossbar!

As for the season - what an incredible team this bunch have been, from the struggles of last season, to turn it around and produce not just the results but also the performances that these kids have can only be applauded. The easy part is educating them (as best we can) and giving them instructions on how to play the game, the hard part is doing it, getting out onto the field and seeing the pass, knowing when to take a player on, producing unsaveable shots... it's the kids that have done this.

As a coaching team we are nothing but proud and privileged to lead this group.

Well done, Hasland Hawks u8s 24/25. The cream of the crop 💪

PoTM today could have been the entire team - working hard, creating chances and being a positive great on the eye attacking team, but today it went to Ted for his combative performance and great runs which saw him unlucky to not add to the scoreline. Well done, Ted 💪

Hawks vs Wingerworth Wasps u8s

The Hawks were handed the 08:45 slot this morning - unlucky for the parents and their early morning alarm calls - against a Wingerworth team who had made some good strides forward with their development over the season, and if not for the Hawks PoTM the score could have been a lot closer!

First half saw both teams play some good football, and the Hawks being frustrated by both a very strong Wingerworth CB and an excellent performance from their keeper, but eventually the pressure began to build and Kaiden put the Hawks in front with a thunderous strike.

The Hawks kept pushing forward and further strikes from Kaiden, Ted, Ruben and Josh saw the Hawks run out comfortable winners - although the game itself was a very good contest from start to finish.

Well done to both teams for a good game of football to kick the weekend off.

PoTM today was Josh who had a brilliant game as CB, controlling the back line well and seemed to be in the right place everytime Wingerworth attacked. A performance that shows the continued progress this year. Well done, Josh 💪

Hawks vs Sleetmoor u8s

Another beautiful morning at the Arc, another positive result for the Hawks and a cracking game of football for both sides to enjoy.

After the first meeting between the two sides earlier in the season, it was clear Sleetmoor were full of experience now and led by their quick footed striker, they took an early lead. As ever though, the Hawks love a challenge and a few quickfire goals from Harry, Henry and Kaiden saw the Hawks head into the break with a narrow lead.

The 2nd half saw more good football from both sides and they shared a few goals apiece with Ruben grabbing a well taken strike, Henry putting 4 second half goals away, and the final goal was a brilliant fast break from Ruben, with great runs either side he slipped a perfectly weighted ball into Kaiden for a sweet finish to cap off a high scoring and very entertaining game.

Full credit to Sleetmoor for their development this season, clearly a well drilled and organised team.

For the PoTM today, the kids were set a clear task - whoever works the hardest for their team, gets their head up and makes good decisions on when to run, pass or shoot - and a very well deserved winner sees Kaiden pick up PoTM with goals, great runs, passes and his usual non stop graft around the pitch. Well done, Kaiden 👌

Hawks vs Tansley Tornadoes u8s

A beautiful sunny morning, the fresh green grass below our feet and two sets of kids doing what they love - what more could coaches and parents ask for.

Tansley provided a good test last time round, and the Hawks knew they had to repeat the levels shown last week to ensure the result went the way we would hope for, and after a quick warm up the kids went out to put on a performance.

First up was a fantastic diving save from Olivia to keep Tansley our from distance, then the excellent press from Henry reward with a goal to set the Hawks on their way. Further strikes from Henry, Ruben, Ted and Harry saw the Hawks run out worthy winners.

Credit to Tansley who kept playing with their heads up all game and got their reward with a couple of late goals including a brilliant strike leaving Olivia with no chance.

More good football on show, plenty of graft and a positive result for the Hawks. A big thanks to the parent who stepped up and reffed the game - thank you, and good luck for the remaining games Tansley.

PoTM(s) today went to Olivia and Ted. Much of the focus is often on attacking football, but its equally as important to recognise the great saves in goal and the defensive efforts at the back. Well done for an excellent early save and more throughout that helped the Hawks stay on the front foot, and well done to Ted for his strong running and goals in the first half, and being very strong at the back in the 2nd half. Spot on kids!👌

Hawks vs Samba u8s

Wow! What a game we all witnessed today, in chapter 4 of a fantastic rivalry that has built up this season on the back of two fantastic teams pushing each other all the way every time we play.

After the last game, where we felt the Hawks didn't show up until the 2nd half, this was a different situation completely as both teams were clearly fired up from the opening whistle and didn't once take a backwards step from each other, as the coaches and parents witnessed one of the games of the season without a doubt.

Spectacular goals from both teams, including a free kick thunderbolt from Harry, and both teams exchanging late goals all added to a very dramatic morning of football.

As always, big thanks to Samba, takes two teams to produce this kind of drama and it's always an action packed fixture.

PoTM today was Josh, who put in not only a superb performance at the back, but also produced his best performance of the season and really held the defence together through a tough period in the game. Brilliant stuff 👌

Hawks vs Pilsley u8s

The 9am slot at the Arc saw the Hawks up against a very honest and hardworking Pilsley team today.

The Hawks were fired up from the first whistle today, determined to put last weeks result behind them, and within 5 minutes the Hawks enforced the extra man as Henry hit a hattrick and Kaiden struck a nicely worked goal. The goals continued to come as Ruben and Josh both found the net before half time.

The 2nd half opened up a bit more as the Hawks were playing full throttle attacking football and Pilsley were working hard and using the extra player advantage well, and further goals from Josh, Kaiden, Ruben and Henry saw the Hawks earn a great result.

A shout out to Pilsley, who never once let their heads go down, worked hard for the entire game and showed plenty of fight. Well done Pilsley 👏

PoTM today was Henry, with a 5 minute hattrick to get the game started, great work rate and leading the press from the front aswell as getting his head up for some quality passes. Well done, Henry and well done to the entire team for a very good performance 👌

Hawks vs Samba u8s

The big game in the u8's Orange league saw the Hawks up against our good rivals Samba today.

In a reversal of the last game, it was Samba who were out of the blocks quick with a strong press all over the pitch and took an early lead as good passing football opened the Hawks defence up. A couple more followed before the Hawks finally woke up, and for the next 30 minutes we got the usual cracker these two sets of kids deliver... and both teams keepers making a number of quality saves.

A cracking free kick from Harry pulled a goal back, and Henry hitting another had the Hawks' comeback on with a few minutes remaining... but as both teams went for it, it was Samba who broke away and earned themselves a great result, and deserved too. Well done, Samba, great performance, and as always, we will look forward to the next game, with a cracker guaranteed!

PoTM today was Josh, who came on and made some really important interceptions ,as the Hawks fought their way back into the game, and backed this up with hard work all game. Well done, Josh 👌

Hawks vs Ashover Raptors u8s

The Hawks were in action today against a very solid Ashover Raptors side, and a very competitive battle was on show for all to enjoy.

Both sides were happy to play forward thinking attacking football, and the game saw goals for both sides, with the highlight of the goals being a stunning free kick from Ruben which left the keeper with no chance. The main downside was an injury to our 'keeper, Olivia, who had to leave the pitch early after making a very brave save at the feet of the Ashover forward. Heal up soon, Olivia 💪

Finally, after a fun 40 minutes of action, the Hawks finished the game off and look forward to a trip to Hollingwood next weekend as the great season continues on.

PoTM today was Harry, who provided 4 more assists today, to ensure the Hawks were always on the front foot in the game. Great effort and well done, Harry 👌

Hawks vs Wirksworth u8s

The Hawks were handed the opening slot over at the Arc today, so the kids were up and at it early, and with the sun shining down the kids needed a pep talk to get them focused followed by the coaches requests to keep playing 'heads up' football and looking at how we further improve as a squad.

From the kick off it was clear Ruben was a man on a mission today, as he was making great runs and putting in perfect balls as both Josh and Ted moved into great positions to convert and put the Hawks into an early lead. Constant press from the Hawks ensured plenty of possession and chances to increase the lead heading into half time, capped off with a Messi-esque run and finish from Ted.

Second half saw more of the same as the Hawks continued to put together quality passing plays to open the opposition up and further chances saw Harry, Henry, Ruben and Kaiden join the scorers list as the Hawks ran out emphatic winners.

A massive shout out to Wirksworth who never once stopped trying, and worked their socks off for the entire game.

PoTM today was a big call as many players had very strong games, but with his appetite for creative play, looking up and grabbing a double hattrick of assists, plus two goals of his own, the trophy went to Ruben - outstanding effort mate 👌
