Funtington Guides with their s'mores and campfire songs yesterday ❤... though they did understandably make use of our sheltered seating area to enjoy their goodies!

Majestic ancient woodland Kingley Vale National Nature Reserve 🌳

Make Willowfield your base camp for a visit 😊 You can walk (approx 1hr), cycle (approx 15mins) or drive (approx 5mins) there with a stop at The Richmond Arms, West Ashling or Horse and Groom East Ashling, Chichester on the way. Or make it a circular route and pop into one on the way there and one on the way back!

There is so much unique beauty on our doorstep and when you stay here, it is all yours 🥰

A glorious Bee orchid in our tall grass 😍... who perhaps presents cautionary tales in falling in love...

You see the flowers mimic the appearance of the bees it wants to be pollinated by. So the plant deceptively seduces poor bees with all their pollen onto its petals. The Bee is left ultimately frustrated, whilst the orchid ends up suitably pollinated. Those easily swayed bees.... 😉

And for a second cautionary tale, it may be worth noting that the right species of bee isn't found the UK. So after all that effort to look good, the Bee orchids have to make do with self-pollination here 😂

Fear not, as we're an exclusive use campsite, you won't have to smile nicely at a stranger's dodgy jokes when staying here 🤪...

.. but genuinely quite proud of that bit of comic genius!
