No Wind Day 🤩

David Cummings was a man who learned how fragile life is through deep personal loss. His wife was diagnosed with breast cancer, and despite treatment and chemotherapy, she passed away not long after the diagnosis. Losing her changed him completely. The grief didn’t disappear quickly. The pain stayed with him for years, and it reshaped the way he thought about time, life, and what truly matters.

After her death, David realized something simple but difficult life does not wait for grief to end. He understood that life can stop suddenly just like it did for his wife and that any of us could be gone tomorrow. Instead of staying trapped in pain, he made a conscious decision to live fully. Not because the pain was gone, but because he didn’t want to spend the rest of his life only mourning what he had lost. He knew the grief would stay with him, but he chose not to let it stop him from living.

David began doing the things that made him feel alive. He embraced adventure and movement white kite surfing, ice skiing, sky surfing activities that reminded him he was still here, still breathing, still capable of joy. He believed in seizing each day, not recklessly, but intentionally, with gratitude and presence.

Healing, for him, took time years, not days. But he refused to live permanently inside sorrow. He kept his thoughts young, his spirit curious, and his days full. His life became a quiet reminder that everyone carries pain some visible, some invisible but we still have a choice in how we live alongside it.

In 2022, at the age of 85, David Cummings passed away while still doing what he loved. He left behind a lesson that speaks softly but powerfully grief may stay with us, but it doesn’t have to end us. Even with loss in our hearts, we can still choose to live fully, love deeply, and make every day count.
