This weekend saw us racing in tricky conditions for the Joan shaw trophy.
XOD Joan Shaw Trophy at Itchenor Sailing Club
Six XOD's would take to the start line for the first race and what would turn out to be the only race of Saturday afternoon. X177 helmed by Nick Andrews would lead the fleet off the line and make a charge for the incoming tide.

A great Report from Chris Darling on the Itchenor fleets trip to Poole week.
XOD racing at Poole Week 2024
Four Itchenor XOD boats boldly beamed themselves over to Parkstone where they encountered a far flung galaxy of XOD sailors. Some things were exactly the same, but others oddly different.

It’s All over! Cowes Week is done for another year. John, Tim & Fraser have done it again! Well done team Astralita.
The team has now won 3 in the last 4 years! Even more impressive is that it is now Johns 9th Captains Cup win in 12 years, 6 in Lass & 3 in Astralita. Impressive stats!

Both the Victory and XOD classes had earlier starts than usual today, with the former getting away cleanly and the XODs at the second attempt after a general recall. Roger Yeoman’s XOD Xcitation has become consistently faster as the week has progressed and took victory for the first time today, 32 seconds ahead of Penny Fulford’s Madeleine, while Andrew & Donna Cooper and John Boyce’s Athena took third 34 seconds later.
John Tremlett, Tim Copsey and Fraser Graham’s Astralita started the regatta posting three consecutive first places but dropped to 28th yesterday. They finished sixth today, more than three and a half minutes behind Xcitation. XODs have a discard after only four races, so Astralita now retains first place overall, but only two points ahead of Richard Faulkner’s Swallow, with xcitation only one point adrift in third place. Competition for the class’s most coveted trophy, the Captain’s Cup, is therefore wide open going into the final race, with almost one third of the fleet having a mathematical chance of winning.
