MATCH REPORT Ashling v Yellow Stump
26/05/2019
Chris Cranna (27) got the Ashling innings off to a solid start against their Worthing & Littlehampton visitors, and when Henry Slatter added a big-hitting 84, and man of the match Ben Harrild chipped in with 53, the home team were able to post a formidable total of 213 from their 40 overs. Yellow Stump used eight different bowlers, Walker’s 2-14 was the pick of them.
Reynolds (80) and Gardner (33) gave the run chase some momentum after Slatter and Adam Shaul had tied down the openers, but Harrild’s 3 for 26 and two wickets each for Steve Harvey and Nic Loubser saw off the visitors’ challenge as Stump finished on 162 for 9 leaving Ashling the victors by 51 runs.
MATCH REPORT - IBM South Hants v Ashling
12/05/19
Ashling recorded their first win of the season in a cliffhanger finish at Shirrell Heath.
Nic Loubser (20) and Henry Slatter (47) were the backbone of an Ashling innings of 135 from 40 overs, which looked a little on the low side. Smith’s 6-13 for the home side was a remarkable bowling performance.
Ashling’s opening bowlers Adam Shaul (0-10) and Henry Slatter (3-22) were unerringly accurate and after ten overs, IBM had only mustered ten runs and Shaul included four consecutive maidens. The pressure was now on IBM.
Although Hicks (25) and Croxon (22) helped take IBM to the brink of victory, Steve Harvey (5-44) took the last of his five wickets to end the innings with six runs still required.
