I hope everyone is all right and has survived last week's heat. Temperatures locally hit 38.5c. Bob and I did chores VERY early and then stayed indoors with everything shut and a fan going. I'm a bit tired of lettuce now but at least we didn't have to go out for anything. I exercised two or three times daily on alternate days (does that make sense??)
This coming week is going to be much cooler and I look forward to seeing everyone on Tuesday.

During the forecast heatwave, it's important to recognise how heat might affect you. Aging diminishes the body's ability to regulate temperature through sweating and circulation and common prescriptions like diuretics, beta-blockers, and sedatives, can inhibit the body's cooling mechanisms and accelerate dehydration. If you don't have to go out then don't!
Make sure you have water with you at all times. Limit outdoor activity or errands to the early morning or late evening, avoiding the hottest stretch of the day (11 AM to 3 PM).

SHIBASHI 1, the first in a series of qigong forms or sets created in 1979 by Professor Lin Housheng. Set 1 is my favourite moving meditation which combines rhythmic breathing with gentle, flowing movements. The movements effectively exercise each part of the body whilst easing stress and tension. Each of the 18 movements targets areas of the body helping to promote balance and circulation. Regular practice may help regulate blood pressure, alleviate arthritis pain, and improve flexibility, balance, and posture. The movements are low-impact and easily modified. It can be done standing or sitting, making it suitable for varying mobility levels and ages. Regular practice can help regulate blood pressure, alleviate arthritis pain, and improve flexibility, balance, and posture.
