🏉 OUR NEW 1ST XV CAPTAIN! 💜🖤

We’re delighted to announce that Saul Wratten has been appointed as our 1st XV Captain for the 2026/27 season! 👏

Having served as Vice Captain for the past two seasons, Saul has shown outstanding leadership both on and off the pitch — and was also deservedly named Players’ Player of the Year 2025/26 🏆

A consistently top performer, Saul’s commitment to the club, his teammates and his own performance is second to none. 💪

Even more importantly, Saul is one of many players to have come through the Woodford Rugby Club youth system, making his appointment even more special. 💜

With an impressive 77 1st XV caps already under his belt, we’re excited to see what the next chapter brings!

Gary popped into the clubhouse yesterday for a quick drink after training… because apparently running around a rugby pitch is thirsty work! 😂

He was very well behaved, looked after his humans, and obviously made sure the bar staff knew exactly where the treats were kept. 🐶🍺

Just your average Woodford member… four legs, waggy tail and absolutely no intention of buying a round! 😂💜

A very Happy 89th Birthday to our legendary President, Richard De Berry! 💜🖤🤍

On Saturday, a fantastic crowd of Woodford members and staff packed out The Traveller’s Friend to celebrate with Richard — and what a lovely afternoon we had! 🍻☀️

89 years young and still going strong — still keeping us all on our toes, still partial to a whiskey or two (or three… depending who’s counting!) and, most importantly, still delivering those wonderfully inappropriate jokes! 😂🥃

And judging by the photo, 89 is definitely treating him well… surrounded by the ladies! 😂😉

It was brilliant to see so many of the Woodford family there to raise a glass, share a few laughs and celebrate such a special milestone with our President. 🥂🎂
