This surprises people…
A couple of our coaches eat roughly 2,800 calories a day and stay fairly lean.
That’s more than some of our members eat while they’re actively trying to lose weight.
It isn’t because they’ve been blessed with a magical metabolism.
It’s the result of years spent building muscle, training consistently and generally being active.
This is why we put strength training at the centre of what we do at J1.
Not because lifting weights burns a ridiculous number of calories during the session.
It doesn’t.
But because it helps you build and keep muscle while losing fat.
And creates a body that can handle more food, more movement and normal life much better.
A lot of people approach fat loss the other way around:
Eat as little as possible.
Do as much cardio as possible.
Try not to think about biscuits.
It can work for a while.
But if the plan is too aggressive, you risk losing muscle alongside the fat.
You become smaller, more tired and increasingly desperate for the diet to end.
Then “normal eating” returns and so does the weight.
The goal shouldn’t just be to lose weight as quickly as possible.
It should be to build a stronger, more active body.
And to learn how to eat in a way you can actually continue.
We not saying six weeks of lifting means you can suddenly eat 2,800 calories and live exclusively on restaurant food.
Unfortunately. 😅
But every bit of strength and muscle you build improves the position you’re in long term.
Eating fewer calories helps you lose fat now.
Getting stronger helps you keep the results.
