Sound of Mull 2026 ๐คฟ๐ด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ณ๓ ฃ๓ ด๓ ฟ
Another year, another Clydebank SAC pilgrimage to the Sound of Mull โ and this time the weather gods actually decided to play nice โ๏ธ๐
A few days based in Lochaline, some seriously beautiful Scottish scenery, calm seas and a very solid lineup of dives made for one cracking weekend ๐คฟ๐ค
We kicked things off at Manse Point, and it was a particularly special dive for Gordon, marking his 300th dive! ๐๐คฟ๐ฐ
Saturday took us to the John Preston Wall, packed with marine life and some seriously colourful scenery, followed by the ever-photogenic SS Rondo ๐๐ฆ๐ณ๏ธ
Sunday brought a couple of classic Sound of Mull wrecks โ the SS Shuna and SS Hispania. The Hispania was the real showstopper, with incredible colours, soft corals, anemones, seaweeds, hydroids and plenty of very friendly-looking Po***ck ๐ณ๏ธ๐งก๐๐
A huge thanks to everyone who made the trip happen โ and especially Gordon for organising it all ๐๐ผ๐ฌ๐ฉผ
A weekend of wrecks, reefs, scenery, sunshine and a LOT of diving ๐คฟ๐

๐ Huge congratulations to Harry on becoming a BSAC Sports Diver! ๐คฟ๐
As we saw when he picked up the Tam Sneddon Trophy, Harry is one of the keenest divers in the club right now โ jumping on pretty much any and every dive trip going ๐๐คฟ
Heโs also shown a real interest in helping plan trips to new and interesting locations the club hasnโt explored before, including scouting out slipways for launching RIBs and figuring out all the logistics that come with it ๐บ๏ธ๐ค๐งญ
He might not know it yet, but Harry is already well on his way to becoming a very capable, experienced and well-rounded Dive Leader ๐จ๐พโ๐ซ๐คฟ

Some say A Frames is a bit boringโฆ ๐โฉ๏ธ
Our clubโs top underwater photographers, Harry and Jill, would somewhat disagree ๐ธ๐คฟ๐
Hereโs a little collection of their photos and videos from Sundayโs dives, showing just how much life is hiding around Scotlandโs premier dive site ๐โจ
The biggest find was a big conger eel tucked away inside one of the structures ๐๐
Alongside that, there were goby, stonefish, crabs, squat lobsters and loads more life going about their business ๐๐ฆ๐ฆ
Maybe A Frames isnโt so boring after allโฆ ๐๐คฟ

Another extended weekend of training in the bag ๐คฟ๐
One Sports Diver and three Ocean Diver trainees took to the water, hitting up St Catherineโs Pier and A Frames ๐โฉ๏ธ
Both sites had a thick layer of something around the first 2โ3 metresโฆ but we pushed through that and the water underneath was crystal clear ๐โจ
We got up close with some big langoustines, loads of tiny comb jellies and one jacked-up crab ๐ฆ๐ชผ๐ฆ๐ช
A bit of litter was also collected , a few skills were practised and everyone went home with a smile ๐๏ธ๐๐จ๐พโ๐ซ๐
There may or may not have been a few newly qualified handshakes handed outโฆ But youโll just have to watch this space to find out ๐๐ค๐

While we were off diving around the Summer Isles, someone quietly managed to bag themself another wee qualification ๐พ๐คฟโ
๐ Big congratulations to our Club DO James on completing the BSAC Chartwork and Position Fixing SDC ๐บ๏ธ๐งญ
Even as our Club DO and an Advanced Instructor, James is a very good example that the learning never really stops. Thereโs always another skill to learn, another qualification to chase, and another level to unlock if youโre willing to put in the time and effort ๐ช๐๐คฟ
Sadly, the beautiful sun hat and laminated local nautical charts are not included in the course pack, but can be purchased separately ๐๐บ๏ธ๐ธ
Well done, James! We canโt wait for the next club trip to some exotic SCOTTISH location that the club has never been to before ๐๐๐

๐ Huge congratulations to Sue for completing her BSAC Ocean Diver course! ๐คฟ๐
Sue originally joined us as the third wheel to Big Lee and Little Lee, who were already qualified divers. Clearly fed up with sitting on the sidelines, she decided to take the plunge herself ๐๐
Having finished the last of her Ocean Diver lessons, she wasted no time booking a holidayโฆ with the most important requirement being somewhere much warmer and nicer to dive than the cold, dark Scottish sea lochs โ๏ธ๐ด๐คฟ๐
Well done, Sue! We canโt wait to see where the diving takes you next! ๐๐๐พ

Another little training day in the bag ๐คฟ๐
A big well done to Sam for taking his first wee steps into the world of open water diving ๐๐
And an equally big well done to Pete for managing to leave the dive site with all the gear he arrived with ๐๐
It was a bit damp at A Frames โ our favourite dive site and quite possibly all of Scotlandโs favourite dive site too ๐ง๏ธโฉ๏ธ
Thankfully, we were all wearing drysuits, which were mostly dry on the insideโฆ and thatโs about as much as you can ask for sometimes ๐
๐ฅถ
It was also great to bump into fellow divers from Fyne Diving & Watersports and ๐ค๐คฟ
Another day of training, another day underwater, and another excuse to spend a few hours standing around a car park talking about diving afterwards ๐โ๐
