Sound of Mull 2026 ๐Ÿคฟ๐Ÿด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ณ๓ ฃ๓ ด๓ ฟ

Another year, another Clydebank SAC pilgrimage to the Sound of Mull โ€” and this time the weather gods actually decided to play nice โ˜€๏ธ๐ŸŒŠ

A few days based in Lochaline, some seriously beautiful Scottish scenery, calm seas and a very solid lineup of dives made for one cracking weekend ๐Ÿคฟ๐Ÿšค

We kicked things off at Manse Point, and it was a particularly special dive for Gordon, marking his 300th dive! ๐ŸŽ‰๐Ÿคฟ๐Ÿฐ

Saturday took us to the John Preston Wall, packed with marine life and some seriously colourful scenery, followed by the ever-photogenic SS Rondo ๐ŸŸ๐Ÿฆž๐Ÿ›ณ๏ธ

Sunday brought a couple of classic Sound of Mull wrecks โ€” the SS Shuna and SS Hispania. The Hispania was the real showstopper, with incredible colours, soft corals, anemones, seaweeds, hydroids and plenty of very friendly-looking Po***ck ๐Ÿ›ณ๏ธ๐Ÿงก๐Ÿ’›๐ŸŸ

A huge thanks to everyone who made the trip happen โ€” and especially Gordon for organising it all ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ˜ฌ๐Ÿฉผ

A weekend of wrecks, reefs, scenery, sunshine and a LOT of diving ๐Ÿคฟ๐Ÿ’™

๐ŸŽ‰ Huge congratulations to Harry on becoming a BSAC Sports Diver! ๐Ÿคฟ๐Ÿ˜Ž

As we saw when he picked up the Tam Sneddon Trophy, Harry is one of the keenest divers in the club right now โ€” jumping on pretty much any and every dive trip going ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿคฟ

Heโ€™s also shown a real interest in helping plan trips to new and interesting locations the club hasnโ€™t explored before, including scouting out slipways for launching RIBs and figuring out all the logistics that come with it ๐Ÿ—บ๏ธ๐Ÿšค๐Ÿงญ

He might not know it yet, but Harry is already well on his way to becoming a very capable, experienced and well-rounded Dive Leader ๐Ÿ‘จ๐Ÿพโ€๐Ÿซ๐Ÿคฟ

Some say A Frames is a bit boringโ€ฆ ๐Ÿ‘€โ›ฉ๏ธ

Our clubโ€™s top underwater photographers, Harry and Jill, would somewhat disagree ๐Ÿ“ธ๐Ÿคฟ๐Ÿ˜‚

Hereโ€™s a little collection of their photos and videos from Sundayโ€™s dives, showing just how much life is hiding around Scotlandโ€™s premier dive site ๐ŸŒŠโœจ

The biggest find was a big conger eel tucked away inside one of the structures ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ‘€

Alongside that, there were goby, stonefish, crabs, squat lobsters and loads more life going about their business ๐ŸŸ๐Ÿฆ€๐Ÿฆž

Maybe A Frames isnโ€™t so boring after allโ€ฆ ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿคฟ

Another extended weekend of training in the bag ๐Ÿคฟ๐ŸŽ‰

One Sports Diver and three Ocean Diver trainees took to the water, hitting up St Catherineโ€™s Pier and A Frames ๐ŸŒŠโ›ฉ๏ธ

Both sites had a thick layer of something around the first 2โ€“3 metresโ€ฆ but we pushed through that and the water underneath was crystal clear ๐Ÿ‘€โœจ

We got up close with some big langoustines, loads of tiny comb jellies and one jacked-up crab ๐Ÿฆž๐Ÿชผ๐Ÿฆ€๐Ÿ’ช

A bit of litter was also collected , a few skills were practised and everyone went home with a smile ๐Ÿ—‘๏ธ๐ŸŒŠ๐Ÿ‘จ๐Ÿพโ€๐Ÿซ๐Ÿ˜

There may or may not have been a few newly qualified handshakes handed outโ€ฆ But youโ€™ll just have to watch this space to find out ๐Ÿ‘€๐Ÿค๐ŸŽ‰

A weekend of boats, wrecks, walls, wind and plenty of diving in the Summer Isles ๐ŸŒŠ๐Ÿšค๐Ÿ’จ

We ticked off the Boston Stirling, Fairweather V, Isle Martin and the now legendary CSAC Safe Haven ๐Ÿ›ณ๏ธ๐Ÿ—บ๏ธ๐ŸŸ

The Fairweather V was the main event โ€” 10m+ viz, loads of marine life and one seriously impressive wreck ๐Ÿคฉโš“

James put his new Chartwork & Position Fixing skills to the test, successfully navigating us around roughly 30 miles of Scottish coastlineโ€ฆ while narrowly avoiding a Great Skua with a serious attitude problem ๐Ÿฆ๐Ÿ’€๐Ÿ˜‚

Add in some cracking wall diving, plenty of scallops, crabs, anemones, fish and the usual Bankies banter, and itโ€™s safe to say the Summer Isles delivered ๐Ÿคฟ๐Ÿด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ณ๓ ฃ๓ ด๓ ฟ

Good diving, good weather (mostly), good company and absolutely no shortage of stories. ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿป

While we were off diving around the Summer Isles, someone quietly managed to bag themself another wee qualification ๐Ÿ—พ๐Ÿคฟโœ…

๐ŸŽ‰ Big congratulations to our Club DO James on completing the BSAC Chartwork and Position Fixing SDC ๐Ÿ—บ๏ธ๐Ÿงญ

Even as our Club DO and an Advanced Instructor, James is a very good example that the learning never really stops. Thereโ€™s always another skill to learn, another qualification to chase, and another level to unlock if youโ€™re willing to put in the time and effort ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿคฟ

Sadly, the beautiful sun hat and laminated local nautical charts are not included in the course pack, but can be purchased separately ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ—บ๏ธ๐Ÿ’ธ

Well done, James! We canโ€™t wait for the next club trip to some exotic SCOTTISH location that the club has never been to before ๐Ÿ™ƒ๐Ÿ‘๐ŸŽ‰

๐ŸŽ‰ Huge congratulations to Sue for completing her BSAC Ocean Diver course! ๐Ÿคฟ๐ŸŒŠ

Sue originally joined us as the third wheel to Big Lee and Little Lee, who were already qualified divers. Clearly fed up with sitting on the sidelines, she decided to take the plunge herself ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ‘

Having finished the last of her Ocean Diver lessons, she wasted no time booking a holidayโ€ฆ with the most important requirement being somewhere much warmer and nicer to dive than the cold, dark Scottish sea lochs โ˜€๏ธ๐ŸŒด๐Ÿคฟ๐Ÿ˜‚

Well done, Sue! We canโ€™t wait to see where the diving takes you next! ๐Ÿ™๐ŸŒŠ๐Ÿพ

Another little training day in the bag ๐Ÿคฟ๐ŸŽ‰

A big well done to Sam for taking his first wee steps into the world of open water diving ๐ŸŒŠ๐Ÿ‘

And an equally big well done to Pete for managing to leave the dive site with all the gear he arrived with ๐Ÿ˜‚๐ŸŽ’

It was a bit damp at A Frames โ€” our favourite dive site and quite possibly all of Scotlandโ€™s favourite dive site too ๐ŸŒง๏ธโ›ฉ๏ธ

Thankfully, we were all wearing drysuits, which were mostly dry on the insideโ€ฆ and thatโ€™s about as much as you can ask for sometimes ๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿฅถ

It was also great to bump into fellow divers from Fyne Diving & Watersports and ๐Ÿค๐Ÿคฟ

Another day of training, another day underwater, and another excuse to spend a few hours standing around a car park talking about diving afterwards ๐Ÿ˜Žโ˜•๐ŸŒŠ
