💛🖤 Welcome to the team, Lewis Campbell!

At Scotland, myself, Michelle and Jennifer have always believed in doing things a little differently. Between us, we bring almost 65 years of teaching experience, and we’re passionate about using that knowledge to give our students the very best dance education.

As our school has grown, so has the amount of work behind the scenes. From the website to social media, newsletters and online bookings, we knew we needed some extra help.

After spending years bringing up the twins, I decided it was finally time to put one of them to good use! 😂

Today, Lewis begins his first year studying BA (Hons) Business & Marketing at Edinburgh Napier University, but over the summer he’s already been hard at work behind the scenes for .

He has completely rewritten our website for the first time in almost 15 years, created our new News & Events section, making it much easier to keep up with workshops, intensives and exciting opportunities for our dancers (anything to keep them off their phones for a while! 😉). He’s also added a new online payment section to help make booking classes and events much easier for everyone.

We’re still very much a work in progress. There are a few things to tweak, improve and add, but we’re getting there—and we’re incredibly proud of what he’s achieved already.

A huge thank you to everyone who has taken the time to look through the new website and send Lewis such lovely feedback. He was absolutely chuffed to bits, and your kind words have meant so much as he starts this new chapter.

💛With West End - MJ Associate Choreographer Xena Gusthart

🖤Venue: Rosehill High School, Wallyford

We’re absolutely delighted to welcome back our former student Xena Gusthart for a very special workshop.

Xena began her dance journey with us at our Port Seton (East Lothian) school and has gone on to enjoy an incredible professional career. She was the Associate Choreographer on MJ the Musical in London’s West End, Choreographer for Bat Out of Hell, performed in The Bodyguard, and has recently been working in Scotland on the production of Burlesque, following its successful London run.

It will be incredibly special to welcome Xena back to teach in the very studio where her own dance journey began. We know she’ll inspire the next generation of dancers.

Intermediate & Advanced (Grade 5 and above) 7:15–8:30pm

Steaming pointe shoes at 7am in my kitchen…

Eating Haribo with MJ by lunchtime.

Just another completely normal day in the life of a dance teacher. ✨

This weekend? One dancer steamed those very pointe shoes on her way to a semi-final, while another danced his heart out and finished an incredible 4th place in his MJ solo. Moments like these make every early morning, every rehearsal, and every Haribo-fuelled lunch completely worth it. ✨

Time to say farewell to Emily Campbell as she begins an exciting new chapter at the University of Aberdeen, where she’ll be studying for an MA in English. 💙

People often say it’s hard bringing up children, but raising a set of twins while doing the job you love most has certainly been an adventure! I never entered this profession to sit behind a desk doing admin. My passion has always been teaching dance, and it has been the greatest privilege to inspire so many wonderful children… including my own, Miss Emily Campbell.

Emily started dancing at just 2½ years old with two teachers I believed in completely, Michelle and Jennifer, before spending the last ten years dancing with me. Watching her grow into the young woman she is today has been incredibly special.

Dance has given her friendships, confidence, resilience, discipline and memories she’ll treasure forever… although sadly, not cooking skills! 😂 She may not be able to make dinner, but she can certainly jazz dance her way out of almost anything.

The biggest lesson dance taught us both came from a letter Emily wrote, never intending for me to read. It helped me understand what it feels like for a child to sit and watch others succeed while quietly wondering where they fit in. That letter changed me as a teacher.

It inspired us to create opportunities built around teamwork. No auditions. No feeling left out. Just turn up, work hard and be part of something special.

From that idea, our Performance Groups were born. What started with just nine children has grown to almost fifty, giving so many young dancers the chance to feel valued, included and proud to belong.

Now it’s Emily’s turn to follow her own dream.

Go and embrace every moment, make incredible memories and enjoy every second of this adventure. We couldn’t be prouder of you.

Have the best time, baby girl. We love you beyond words. ❤️

…And if anyone sees me this week, I might just need a hug. 🤗
