Apologies this is the first post in a while. A mixture of holidays and being generally very busy!

Caroline Foster Writer & Author and I are on day 1 of our epic 3 Chesters Cycle Challenge! Although it’s just the two of us I’m positive numbers will gradually increase as I continue to do more of the events and word spreads.

We’re raising funds for Helen Rollason cancer charity. If you’d like to donate: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/caroline-foster260

I’ll post updates in the evening for each day of the challenge this week.

Today saw us leave Colchester at 9am, cycle through Sudbury, Thetford Forest and onto Kings Lynn. An impressive 80 miles!

Tomorrow will be another 82 miles to Newark.

Wish us luck!!

We enjoyed wonderful 70 mile sunny ride through Suffolk & Essex countryside yesterday! Of course, only the best coffee & lunch stops!!

Fancy a big one on Monday? We're cycling 90 miles through Woodbridge, to Bawdsey Peninsula where we catch the foot ferry across to Old Felixtowe for fish & chips.

Cycling was invented for days like today!

We enjoyed an amazing ride down the Essex Coast from Walton-on-the-Naze along the esplanade for 11 miles all the way to Seawick. Then along the River Stour to Wivenhoe, and on to Fingringhoe Nature Reserve. Coffee, cake and lunch stops kept us going for the full 73 miles completed today.

What a wonderful sunny day for a bike ride through stunning Essex countryside to Castle Hedingham! Thank you to my companions for their patience, as I had some technology malfunctions and my GPS / maps weren't working for the first part of the ride. I must confess we took a couple of wrong turnings as we were working off my memory for a while. So a big well done as we completed what ended up being a 57 mile ride!

For a guaranteed technology malfunction free ride, why not join us on 9th May for an absolutely lovely 70 mile ride down the Essex Coast and along the River Colne?

4 of us enjoyed a lovely sunny(ish) ride to Harwich via Mistley Walls today. This is a beautiful route on country lanes and wonderful views of the rivers Stour, Orwell and Colne, as well as views of Shotley and Felixtowe docks from our viewpoint in Harwich.

We also enjoyed great coffee and cake at Hobson's Deli in Manningtree!

Why not join us on 5th May when we cycle 50 miles to the stunning Castle Hedingham, or if you're feeling strong there's a 70 mile guided ride on 9th May covering the Essex Coast and River Colne.

We enjoyed a wonderful (but overcast) ride to the beautiful Shotley Peninsula today. Well done to my two riders who successfully completed the 50 mile ride (as well as the 4 crumpets each with chocolate at our coffee stop at the Butt & Oyster in Pin Mill!!)

Why not join us next Thursday (5th May) for a 50 mile guided cycle tour to Castle Hedingham. This is a wonderful ride, taking in some stunning scenery and quiet country lanes, with great coffee & cake in the Old Moot House in Castle Hedingham.
