In the final round of games in their inaugural season in the Essex Women's Walking Football League our ladies collected their best results of the season, They posted 3 wins and 3 draws, and did not concede a single goal.

We were very unlucky in one of the draws not to win, against the eventual title winners Billericay Whites. Dee hit a great shot which hit the right post, trickled along the line and hit the left post, only to bounce out and back into play again. Another inch, and it would have been 4 wins!

The attached screenshot shows the final table and as you can see, we not only finished third, but 12 points clear of the chasing pack.

You are all a credit to Stanway Rovers Walking Football Club.

What an absolutely brilliant first season!

Mixed results for our two teams in the North Essex Walking Football Alliance week 5 fixtures on Sunday.

The Over 50s lost two and also secured a very creditable comeback draw against Clacton Knights Blues. They now sit mid-table with 17 points.

The Over 60s won a game, drew a game and lost a game. They are now second in the league with 29 points and a game in hand on leaders Little Oakley, who have 35 points.

Both teams struggled for players this week, so it was a creditable performance from the players that took part.

Onwards and upwards.

On Saturday 20th June, Stanway Rovers Ladies Walking Football Team competed in the South Street Cup. We did extremely well, reaching the knock-out quarter finals, before being defeated 1-0 by the Premiership Leaders. In all, we played 4 premiership teams, and 3 championship teams (and beat the runaway Championship leaders 1-0 on the way.)

Brilliant effort, ladies 😃❤️😃

Week 4 of the North Essex Sunday Friendly League saw mixed fortunes for our Over 50s and Over 60s men’s teams.

Over 50s played 3, drawing 1 and losing 2 games, which leaves them 7th in the table with 13 points.

The Over 60s were under-strength due to holidays, but took strength from adversity, winning 2 games and drawing the other. Trevor Britton scored two with Essy also scoring.

They now sit 2nd in the league on 25 points with a game in hand over leaders Little Oakley who have 28 points.

Well done both teams.

An under strength squad competed in the fourth round of the Ladies WF League session last Saturday. We had just one sub and she was injured part-way through, so we were really up against it.

2Despite this, we had some great results, which resulted in us moving up from 4th to 3rd, and creating a 5 point gap between ourselves and the trailing pack. Debbie Seaber scored on her debut (only 2 weeks after joining our club) and the ever-present Jo Pullen scored a brace.

Brilliant results in adversity. Well done, Stanway Rovers Ladies Football team

Another great Sunday social event.
Managing such likeable individuals as you all are, we have become part of a developing squad of players that are very comfortable together as teammates working together.
It really is a pleasure to be involved
Thank You 🙏 All

On a sweltering day in Billericay our over 50s team were in league action with a strong team. In our first game against Beacon Rovers, we put on a walking footballing masterclass going up 3-0 at the break. Second half they came at us and we ended the game 4-3 winners with Pete Ellis and Phil McCusker scoring a brace each.

In the second game against Chelmsford City we had our chances but lost 1-0.

Final game against Billericay and a few personnel changes for the first half. With the score 0-0 at half time we made some changes and came out 2-1 winners with a last minute penalty. Pete and Phil the scorers, again.

Great support from the touchline and a good day all round.

That moves us to fifth in the table with 5 games to go. COYR!
