Yesterday saw the last big Schools tournament of the year. English Schools Team Championship at Woodhall Spa.

Essex Golf College were playing in the Gross section and Joyce Frankland Academy in the Nett. Both did very well on difficult courses in challenging weather. 2 scores counted for position. JFA came 21st out of 31 teams, Essex GC where Runners up for the 2nd year in succession.

Rhys Hatcher who played in Championships and represented Essex Schools since he was 11, has now moved to playing for Hertfordshire Schools, Walked away with the lowest Individual score winning by 2 shots. With Emily being the highest placed Essex individual in 7th, well done Ems. Good luck as you move onto pasture new. Thank you for always supporting Essex Schools.

A great day yesterday at Kedleston Park GC. With 7 representatives from ESSEX we were looking forward to some good golf and perhaps bringing home a trophy and an England cap or three.
What happened was incredible. After a warmish but comfortable first 18 Ollie McEvoy was the first player in with a 1 under par 71. Not so good for the other lads but the scores were tight. Lily Hawes continued her great form from The Henry Cooper and also returned home a 71, -1. Both were in 2nd place. All to play for in the afternoon rounds.
Ollie returned a 72, which had him finish in a tie 2nd place but 4th on second round CB. However Lily had another good round, finishing also with 73 and 4 shots clear of second place. Making her National Schools Champion! Well played everyone.

Not just the girls, the boys did very well too and 3 have qualified for the finals. Congratulations. Stan Smith, Hayden and Ollie McEvoy.

Great success for Essex Schools at the SE Regional Championships.
The girls took the first 4 places with Lily Hawes becoming SE Champion.
