THE SCALES ARE GOING DOWN… BUT WHAT ELSE IS HAPPENING?
When you’re losing weight, the number on the scales isn’t the only thing worth paying attention to. In fact, the scales are simply showing you the combined weight of everything that makes up your body at that moment.
That includes:
💪 Muscle
💧 Water
🦴 Bone
❤️ Organs and tissues
🥩 Body fat
🍽️ Food and fluid in your digestive system
⚡ Stored glycogen and other body stores
…and if your lucky enough to be a female of a certain age menopause likes to add a bit now and again too! 👊🏼
So when the number changes, it doesn’t automatically tell you which of these several things it is that has changed.
And that’s why we need to look beyond the scales.
The goal shouldn’t simply be:
❌ Get as light as possible.
It’s about becoming:
✅ Stronger
✅ Fitter
✅ More active
✅ Healthier
✅ More confident
✅ More capable
✅Happy in your own skin
What’s the point in simply chasing a smaller number if we’re not also working towards becoming a stronger and healthier version of ourselves?
This is something I’ll be focusing heavily on as I develop my GLP-1 support programme. I don’t want to just help people lose weight. I want to help people build a better lifestyle, improve their health and feel better in their own body. That’s why I’ll always encourage people to look at the whole picture, not just what the scales say.
More on this soon…

WEIGHT LOSS IS CHANGING… BUT MAYBE OUR IDEA OF “HEALTHY” NEEDS TO CHANGE TOO.
Everyone seems to be talking about GLP-1s at the minute and if you don’t know someone taking one, chances are you know someone who does.
I’ve had more and more clients asking me questions about them and have found myself lacking in knowledge to answer their questions so I’ve researched a bit and I am now intrigued. Not only do I think this is extremely beneficial for weight loss for certain people but there are also lots of positives about a drug that I had in my mind completely demonised despite not knowing anything about it.
I think these are really important conversations to be having.
Think back to the 80s and 90s. A lot of the fitness and celebrity culture back then was built around one thing, being skinny. As a young female growing up, celebrity females were skinny, very skinny. The thinner you were, the better. Cigarette in one hand and a black coffee in the other 🤯
Fast forward to today and are we running the risk of going back to that??
I’m currently undertaking a specialist GLP-1 course so I can better understand these medications, the challenges people may face while using them and what happens when you stop, and most importantly, how I can support people with the exercise, lifestyle and nutrition side of their whole journey.
My intention isn’t to judge anyone for their choices.
It’s not to tell people whether they should or shouldn’t use medication and it’s certainly not to provide medical advice. It’s to learn. Over the coming weeks, I’ll be sharing what I learn.
The goal shouldn’t simply be:
“How little can I weigh?”
Maybe the better question is:
“How strong, fit and healthy can I become?”
Ultimately, I’d love to use what I learn to help people not just lose weight, but build a better lifestyle for the long term.
