Savasana or relaxation -

I recently listened to an inspiring yoga podcast on this subject and thought I would share some thoughts.

Our yoga practice always ends with relaxation. We have done the physical bit - this is where we practice stillness and our nervous system moves from active to passive. It’s a bit like ‘clearing the slate’ and having a fresh start

It takes time to ‘get good’ at it and often we meet challenges -

Physical - it’s important to get comfortable. A bolster under the knees, a blanket under our neck, keeping warm or an eye mask can help .

Mental - it’s hard to be still with our minds. Some days our brains are restless. It’s completely normal for thoughts to arise and it’s ok to let them pass.

Every day is different and some days we can relax better than others. It is a journey as we learn to train our nervous system over time .

Savasana helps to balance life, reduces anxiety and stress and improves sleep.

Leave class feeling refreshed and calm

The most important pose of your practice - would love to hear your thoughts x

Happy September- my favourite month.
It’s the in betweeen season - the end of summer and Autumn is just not here yet .

A great time to quietly focus on your health and fitness goals without the pressure of the New Year- a gentle reset.

Time to get back or to start a regular fitness routine - a weekly( or more!) yoga class, hitting your 10000 steps every day, including some strength training a few times a week .

What do you need to do to ?

Start slow and ease yourself Into the last few months of the year with some realistic goals.
I am a great believer that you need to find exercise you love and you will stick with it . ❤️🧘‍♂️💪🏼

Look forward to you all joining me at classes next week. Barbara x
