It’s the perfect opportunity to recognise and celebrate our fantastic greenkeeping team for all the hard work they put in throughout the year. 👏

Our greenkeepers work tirelessly to deliver a golf course we can all be proud of. We’re sure our members and guests will agree that the course has been presented superbly this year, with the greens in particular being exceptional to putt on! ⛳️

🐭⛳ **THERE’S A MOUSE IN THE BAG!** ⛳🐭

**Ladies Past Captains Cup – 26th August** 🌸🏌️‍♀️

17 of our Past Lady Captains enjoyed their annual Stableford Competition — and despite a rather damp start 🌧️, the waterproofs and brollies were soon discarded as the sun came out! ☀️

🏆 **Congratulations to our winner, Norma Pickford**, with an excellent **41 points!** 👏👏

Norma is having a fantastic season, having also won the Mixed Past Captains Competition with John Burrows earlier in the year. 🤩🏆

🍀 Good luck to Norma in the **TaylorMade Final on 13th September!**

🎯 **Nearest the Pin:** Jane Pickup — who also made her 2! 👏

But Jane’s day had already got off to an interesting start… 🐭😂

Her playing partner, Chris Westrup, had spotted a mouse jumping out of her golf bag that morning! She emptied and hoovered the whole bag before setting off, confident the little stowaway had been evicted.

But on the **8th hole… squeal!** 😱🐭

**Mouse No. 2** popped his head out of one of the pockets!

Thankfully, Jane came to the rescue, caught the little fella and released him safely back into the wild. 🌳🐭 He was last seen **scampering off towards Somerford**…😂⛳

⛳🌟 MEET NAOMI WILLANS – ASTBURY’S YOUNG CAPTAIN MAKING HER MARK FOR CHESHIRE! 🌟⛳

At just 17 years old, Naomi Willans is already flying the flag for Astbury – and for Cheshire! 💚

Not only is Naomi our Junior Club Captain, she is also Cheshire Captain, representing the county while developing her game under the expert coaching of our very own Matt Dixon. 👏🏌️‍♀️

And behind the impressive golf is a young lady with plenty of personality!

🍫 Lucky charm? A KitKat, naturally!
🎶 Tournament hype song? Physical by Dua Lipa.
🥤 Post-round fuel? Half a pint of Diet Coke and cheese & onion crisps.
🏌️‍♀️ One club for life? Her trusty 7-iron.
💥 Her “wow” shot? Driving!

Naomi is also passionate about encouraging more girls into golf and challenging the idea that the game is “just for old men”. Her message is simple: you don't have to hit the longest ball to score well – consistency and a good short game can make all the difference. ❤️

Having recently completed her A Levels at Sandbach High School & Sixth Form College, Naomi is now hoping to study Geography at Loughborough University – while continuing to pursue her golfing ambitions.

And those ambitions are impressive. In ten years, Naomi would love to be a scratch golfer and still representing Cheshire Ladies. 🏆

We’re incredibly proud to have Naomi as part of the Astbury family and can’t wait to see where her golf takes her next.

Although somehow we suspect that KitKat will be coming along for the ride… 🍫😂

🏆 BRIGHTWELL QUALIFIES FOR PRESTIGIOUS JUNIOR EUROPEAN OPEN FINALS! ⛳️

Huge congratulations to Astbury Golf Club’s Bobby Brightwell, who is following in the footsteps of former finalists Justin Rose, Luke Donald, and Nick Dougherty after taking the first major step on the pathway to junior golf success! 👏

Bobby secured his place at Finals Week of the Sky Sports Junior European Open by carding an impressive gross 73 during the qualifying event at Reddish Vale Golf Club on August 6th.

He will be joined at the finals by George Elwin (Wrexham GC) and Gabriella Schofield (Hillside GC). The trio is heading to the stunning Azata Golf Course in Estepona, Spain, to compete against some of the very best young golfers in Europe. 🇪🇸✈️

Finals Week is a stern test: all competitors are guaranteed four rounds of golf, with those making the cut earning a spot in a fifth and final round. It’s a tough challenge, but exactly the kind of test a gifted young golfer relishes!

First staged in 1993 and now in its 34th year, the Junior European Open is widely regarded as one of Europe's toughest junior tournaments—proven by a world-record field of 176 juniors at last year's finals.

Everyone at Astbury Golf Club is immensely proud and wishing Bobby the very best of luck as he prepares to represent us on one of junior golf’s biggest stages! Go get 'em, Bobby! 🏌️‍♂️🔥

⛳️☀️ **WHAT A WEEKEND! Astbury Ladies Shine at Mottram Hall** ☀️⛳️

What a difference a year makes! Following last year's washout, 34 of our wonderful Astbury Golf Club ladies headed to Mottram Hall for Lady Captain Jane Tyler’s Away Weekend — and the sun did not stop shining! ☀️🏌️‍♀️

Organised to perfection by our Director of Golf, Estelle Walker, the weekend was packed with friendly competition, great golf, and fantastic company.

After golf, Mottram treated us to a delicious dinner. Estelle kept us laughing with a brilliant golf ball passing game, the Lady Captain shared some top-class jokes, and Jackie Williams recited a fantastic custom poem written just for the trip! 📝🥂

Monday brought an unexpected obstacle on the 10th hole when the green sprinklers decided to join the fun! 💦 Dodging the water jets added a whole new meaning to "course management" — we’re pretty sure the greenkeepers were keeping score! 🚿⛳️

Huge congratulations to all our winners and a massive thank you to Lady Captain Jane Tyler and Estelle Walker for an unforgettable weekend.
