Created many years ago, Tan-y-Mynydd is a fly fishing haven, set in beautiful and tranquil Welsh countryside.
The pools, which abound with aquatic life, will test the best angler and yet give good fun and sport to the novice be they young or old. The fly fishing pools are fully stocked with a variety of trout (rainbow, blue, tiger and brown) with our record rainbow tipping the scales at 21lb. Our multi method pools are very popular and provide good sport for all ages. Open all year dawn to dusk

We’ve heard the rumours for years… 🎣👀
Was there really a pool on Rhyl seafront where you could catch trout?
A bit of digging suggests there was — Rhyl Fishing Village, based in the old Open-Air Bathing Pool and operating into the 1980s.
Did you fish there? Do you remember the trout? Better still… does anyone have a photo?
Let’s see if we can solve this one. 🎣

Another fresh delivery of Maxcatch caps has just landed at the fishery.

What a summer. ❤️🎣
If the summer holidays have proved anything, it’s that the future of fishing is bright.
A huge thank you to every parent/grandparent who brought the kids along, every angler who stopped to help, and everyone who donated tackle to help youngsters get started.
And a special thank you to Ian Tank Williams. The time, patience and enthusiasm he’s given these kids has been incredible. If we could bottle that enthusiasm, we would!
People say kids aren’t interested in fishing or the outdoors anymore.
We disagree. They just need the opportunity.
And as long as we’re here, giving people that opportunity will always be a priority.
Thank you for a brilliant summer. ❤️

The X System — still one of the most asked questions in the shop.
The X system is simply a way of describing the diameter of tippet/leader material.
The higher the X, the finer the diameter.
3X = thicker
4X = thinner
5X = thinner again
6X = finer still
