The best workout for you might be the one you think you’re bored of….
We live in a world that is more distracting than ever..
This is really evident in the fitness industry, there’s always a new workout, a new exercise, a new method, a new plan, all promising better results than the one before.
This can leave you to thinking that you need to change things up or ‘shock’ your body, especially if you feel bored.
But before you rush to the latest change, try asking yourself why you’re bored.
Boredom isn’t always caused by the programme, it’s caused by a lack of progression within the programme.
If you’re doing the same weights, the same reps and the same exercises without seeing any improvement, of course it starts to feel boring.
There’s no challenge, no sense of achievement, and no feeling that you are actually improving.
It’s just gym ground hog day.
Now imagine doing the same exercises and gradually seeing yourself improve.
10kg becomes 12kg.
8 reps becomes 12 reps.
You are achieving something you couldn’t do a few weeks ago.
Suddenly, the same workout feels very different, because you’re not just repeating a workout, you are building progression..
Effective training is very simple, but it’s not easy:
Pick a handful of useful exercises, that you can perform consistently in a pain free manner.
Stick with them.
Track what you do.
Then give yourself something to beat.
One more rep.
A little more weight.
That’s it.
So the next time you’re bored with your training, instead of automatically looking for something new, ask yourself:
Am I actually progressing?
