Darlington RA 3rd XI produced one of the most dramatic finishes of the season, holding their nerve to chase down 197 and secure a thrilling one-wicket victory over Marton 3rd XI at Brinkburn Road.
After losing the toss, RA were asked to field first and responded with an excellent bowling display to restrict Marton to 196/9 from their 40 overs. The visitors made a positive start before Kieran Harland (3-15) ripped through the top order with a superb spell, while Tom I’Anson (3-38) claimed three wickets of his own as Marton slipped to 45/4.
Marton rebuilt through a well-made 58 from Alfie Hodgkinson, supported by Michael Crowther (29) and Jude Bezance (30), helping the visitors recover to a competitive total. Ryan Wake (2-41) and Alex Cummins (1-19) also chipped in with important wickets, ensuring the target stayed within reach.
The run chase proved just as dramatic. RA found themselves in early trouble at 32/3, but Kieran Harland responded with a composed 30, before Ben Carvey added a valuable 31 to keep the innings alive.
With wickets continuing to tumble, Cody Hutton produced the innings of the chase, compiling a superb 40 from 51 balls to swing the momentum back in RA’s favour. When Hutton was dismissed with the scores on 195, the game was still hanging in the balance.
There was still more drama to come as Adam I’Anson had earlier played a crucial hand, striking an important 25 from just 21 balls to keep the chase on track before becoming the ninth wicket to fall. With just one wicket remaining and two runs still required, the pressure was firmly on.
Showing tremendous composure, Ryan Wake and Alfie Cummins held their nerve to guide Darlington RA over the line, sealing a memorable one-wicket victory with four overs to spare and earning the full 25 league points.

Best of luck to the RA under 11's tonight in their cup final vs Northallerton.
The RA's route to the final begun vs Barnard Castle with a 17 run win.
The lads then had an emphatic win in the Quarter final versus Middlesbrough, losing only one wicket whilst posting 133 runs from their 16 overs, then taking 12 Boro wickets in reply.
The Semi Final game was against the excellent Richmondshire, and in extremely tight game, the Railway youngsters pipped it by 11 runs.
Away from Brinkburn Road, the RA now have an over 40s cricket team, who tonight, face Rockliffe tonight and the team is as follows

Darlington RA U13s produced a brilliant fightback to beat Darlington CC by 3 wickets at Brinkburn Road.
Darlington CC won the toss and batted first, posting 104-6 from their 20 overs. RA bowled with great discipline throughout, Charlie Hutton delivered an excellent spell of 3 overs, 1 maiden, 1 wicket for just 2 runs.
In reply, RA found themselves in real trouble at 14-5, before Lucas Hall and Roland Morris helped steady the innings. However, at 54-7, the game was still firmly in the balance.
That brought Shreyan Patra and Ossie Smith together, and the pair showed fantastic calmness under pressure. Ossie finished unbeaten on 18, while Shreyan led the chase with a superb 26 not out.
With the game on the line, Shreyan finished it in style, launching a six to seal a memorable derby win for Darlington RA.
A brilliant team effort, great character shown, and a fantastic finish from the lads.
