Here's a simple training split based on how I'm training right now.
At the moment, my main focus is building my squat and bench strength while maintaining the aerobic base I developed during my backyard ultra training.
With a mix of endurance and weightlifting competitions coming up, the goal is pretty straightforward: maintain muscle size, keep my body weight stable, get stronger wherever I can, and hold onto that solid aerobic engine.
You don't always have to choose between strength and enduranceāyou can train for both with the right balance and a bit of planning.
If you'd like me to put together a training split tailored to your goals, drop a COMMENT below, and let's get to work. šŖ
What are your non-negotiables?
What are the things you're committing to every day or every week that will get you closer to your fitness goals?
They don't have to be extreme.
Your non-negotiables could be:
⢠Hitting your calorie target every day.
⢠Getting 10,000 steps in.
⢠Completing three strength sessions each week.
⢠Going for two runs a week.
⢠Drinking enough water.
⢠Prioritising 7ā8 hours of sleep.
You an choose 1 or 2 of the above and honestly it will change everything.
The key is that they're promises, not negotiations.
Stop making deals with yourself based on how you feel that day. Decide what matters, write it down, put it somewhere you'll see it every day, and stick to the plan.
Motivation comes and goes.
Discipline is built by keeping the promises you make to yourself.
Drop your non-negotiables in the comments below. I'd love to see what you're committing to. š

I've hit 40 and my priorities have changed.
I still want to look good, but more importantly, I want to be strong, fit, capable, and healthy enough to enjoy life with the people I love.
That means lifting heavy, running, setting myself challenges, and training for a body that performsānot just one that looks good.
With a baby on the way, there'll be seasons where training gets harder, but I want to lead by example.
I want my daughter to grow up seeing that taking care of yourself isn't a choreāit's a privilege.
And I want to prove that your 40s don't have to be a decline. They can be your strongest decade yet.
Comment REBUILD if you're ready to make your 40s your best years yet.
