Real Madrid are in advanced talks with Borussia Dortmund to sign England midfielder Jude Bellingham for more than 100m euros.

The 19-year-old, who joined Dortmund from Birmingham City in July 2020, was one of England's top performers at last year's World Cup.

Real are willing to pay around 100m euros for Bellingham but Dortmund are understood to want 150m euros.

Bellingham has been linked with some of Europe's top sides.

Real are confident the midfielder - who has turned down a contract offer to stay at Dortmund - wants to join them but Manchester City are still interested too.

Bellingham has played 40 times for his club this season - scoring 11 goals and registering seven assists.

The gradual implementation of the State-funded free education policy is expected to start when schools open for the first term next week, with mostly disadvantaged rural schools being the first beneficiaries of the programme, a senior Government official has said.

Schools will open for the first term of the year on Monday amid high hopes for smooth learning, this time around with no disruption from Covid-19 restrictions.

Parents and guardians have already started making final preparation for the new term by buying uniforms and stationery, among other logistics.

In line with the national Budget guidelines, officials from the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Ministry and those from the Treasury are expected to meet next week to deliberate on how financial resources will be channelled to buttress the implementation of the free education policy.

I was there at the start of Messi's journey with Argentina and I hope so much that he can finish it by lifting this World Cup.

Of course, we had heard about Messi at Barcelona before we met him, but that was the first time he came to play for Argentina. He did not say much then, but we gave him a massive warm welcome to the team and quickly realised just how good he was.

He came with us to the 2005 Under-20 World Cup in the Netherlands when he was 17. I was Argentina captain and we won the tournament together - well, it was mostly down to him!I feel so lucky to have been a part of his generation; to have enjoyed watching and playing alongside him and to have shared so many moments with him, as a team-mate and as a friend.

I know the sacrifices he has made and the difficult times he has been through. Don't forget, he was only 13 when he moved to Spain.

I also had to leave Argentina at a young age to progress my career - most of our players do - and I know how tough it was for me to adapt. But I was 20 when I joined Seville whereas he was just a young boy.
