New students welcome!
We are a small, traditional, shotokan based karate class who train Thursday nights from 19:00 to 20:00, and are looking for new students.
We welcome anyone from beginner to black belt - all we ask is that you have an open mind and desire to learn 😁

Last class of the year and for a bit of fun it was boys vs girls on kata and best applications. Very impressed with what they came up with - and the girls won!

Good class last night - started with maintaining your structure and 'centre', then some pad work and finally exploring tekki sandan applications 👍

Bit of a different class tonight. Started with dealing with an aggressor when you can't stand up (this had nothing to do with my injured knee and the fact that I can't even walk at the moment 🤣) Thanks John Johnston for the inspiration!
Then time for tekki and more tekki

Spent some time exploring the start of Heian Nidan. It's only a small class but they always get stuck in!

A few fun drills looking as restricted punching tonight.
We spend so much time practising striking using movement and delivery of critical mass, but what happens when you start limiting these factors,,,
Enjoyable class tonight - bit of impact work with the new strike shields to warm up 👊 Then kata with tekki shodan and nidan for the higher grades. Finished up with using elements of tekki on the pads, working on heavy hands and 'married' hands.
So much to explore with tekki - this could be the class focus for many more weeks!

Really enjoyed teaching the class tonight. Basics to warm up, lots of kata then a few applications to finish. And nice to see a nearly full crew tonight.

Really enjoyed last night's class. And fantastic to see the return of some familiar faces 😀 Basics, kata and some partner work with basic bunkai from heian sandan (borrowed from John Johnston 😁)
