We're back!

Due to COVID and other issues the club was paused for two years. We are now trying to restart the club for the next academic year.

We are your new exec for the 2020/21 academic year 🥳🥳🥳. We are here to make our club as accessible and fun as possible, so please don't hesitate to get in contact with any of us (through the club email, insta page or messenger). We look forward to seeing as many of you as we can throughout the year.

We had our flying week from the 29th of August to the 6th of September (I know that's more than a week, but who's going to complain about more flying 😅) and the weather was kind to us. This allowed our members to get some serious air time and even allowed Paul Stinson (our treasurer) to become solo. Overall it was a great 10 days worth of flying, in our new normal, and we hope to be flying again in this new academic year.

Rare opportunity to experience ridge and wave soaring!

Date: April 12th - 19th
Cost: £150 - £250
Location: Scotland

We are considering hosting a week-long trip to the Scottish Gliding Centre near Edinburgh this Easter (April 12th – 19th) as other UK university Gliding clubs are heading up for that week.

Transport will be provided and we have arranged to take a 2 seater training glider from Darlton and will hopefully be joined by a few members too. We are going to book accommodation soon and need to know numbers before we do this.

Please email Josh ([email protected]) as soon as possible if you would like to come along. We are going to try our best to keep the cost of the week between £150 - £250 per person which should include transport; accommodation; flying and food.

The club has funds to help pay for membership to the sottish gliding centre for the week, transport and some flying fees hence the cost of the weekend will depend on how many of us go. There is also the option to camp, but it will be the middle of April in Scotland... could be cold!


Organising this trip will require a lot of effort from the committee and will only be worth doing if at least 6 of us would like to go. Maximum available places are 8 as accommodation for more than this number is proving very difficult to find. Because of the location of the Scottish Gliding Centre we will have the opportunity to experience ridge and wave soaring, opportunities that are not available at Darlton.
