Free Barclays Park Tennis Sessions in Spencer Park, every Sunday from 10am to 11am.

Anyone can play – whatever your age or ability, Barclays Free Park Tennis is open to anyone looking to get started, improve their skills and enjoy free tennis.

🎾 Play tennis for free – we’ll never charge you to play, just sign up for free each week and we’ll see you on court
🎾 Meet new people – Barclays Free Park Tennis is a group session, so you’ll get to meet and play tennis with a whole host of different people from your local area
🎾 We’ll provide rackets and equipment – it doesn’t matter if you haven’t played before, or if you don’t own a tennis racket – we’ve got you covered
🎾 Fun games and exercises – every session is packed with a variety of games to keep you active and progress your tennis skills
🎾 Free workout – each session will give you a free workout, get you outdoors and help you practice your game
🎾 Free tennis coaching – sessions are run all year round by our group of trained volunteers, who are set and ready to give you the best tennis experience on court and help you improve your skills
🎾 Bring the family – if you’re looking for free things to do for the whole family, we’ve got you covered. Both adults and children can get involved and enjoy playing tennis together (children under eight should be accompanied by an adult).

Bring you Mum down to the park on Sunday and enjoy a homemade scone with jam & clotted cream 😋

Come and have some Easter fun in Spencer Park. Activities include an Egg Hunt around the park, Egg & Spoon Races and craft activities. All welcome.

The new Spencer Park Community Café will be open for drinks and snacks, and homemade cakes will be available for a small donation to the Friends of Spencer Park's funds.

The Spencer Park Community Café is now officially 'OPEN'! Our opening times are Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 11am until 4pm.

Come and visit us! We need your custom to make the café a success.

We are starting with our usual menu items: hot and cold drinks, snacks, and cake ... but we are looking to serve hot and cold food soon as well.

Remember: The Community Café is run by volunteers so the opening times may need to change if we have problems staffing a shift. However, be reassured that we have a large bank of dedicated volunteers, so we should usually be able to open at the times advertised. In extreme weather, it may be necessary to close early. Any change will be posted on FaceBook.

Spencer Park Community Cafe opens on Saturday 14 February

After four years of planning, fundraising, designing and building refurbishment, the Edwardian pavilion at the centre of Spencer Park has been rescued from decay, and we can proudly announce that the Spencer Park Community Cafe will be opening its doors on Saturday 14 February.

With help and support, we have raised over £500,000 from national funding organisations and through the generosity of the local community. We would like to thank you all.

Peter Elias, funding advisor to the Friends, said, "This shows just what a local community can do when they are galvanised in their efforts. The strength of their support helped us to persuade local and national funding organisations to provide the resources we needed."

Ken Taylor, chair of the Friends of Spencer Park added, "This is a wonderful demonstration of the ways in which members of our diverse local community can pull together for the benefit of present and future park users."
