Tomorrow we take on Berkswell & Balsall, two levels above us — exactly the sort of challenge we need. No hiding, no excuses. Just 80 minutes to put ourselves under pressure, front up, and find out exactly where we’re at.

It’s our final friendly before the league kicks off, Get down to the club, get behind the boys and make yourselves heard. Bring the noise, bring the support — the lads will bring the fire. 🔥

We’re delighted to share some exciting news with our members as we look ahead to the 2026/27 Colts season.

Following discussions with Nuneaton RFC, we are pleased to welcome their Colts into a new Colts cluster with Keresley RFC, with the potential for other local clubs and players to join us as the season develops.

This is grassroots rugby at its very best — clubs working together to make sure young players have the opportunity to keep playing, keep developing and, most importantly, keep enjoying their rugby.

🏉 A PATHWAY BUILT FOR DEVELOPMENT

Keresley is in a fortunate position. Our Colts programme has had a hugely successful period of player development and graduation into senior rugby, with a number of our young players now making the step into the adult game.

That success has created capacity within our Colts set-up, and we’re proud to be able to open our doors and share what we have built with players who might otherwise struggle to find a regular place to play.

But this isn’t simply about having enough players to put a team on the pitch.

We want to provide an environment where young players can genuinely develop and progress.

Our Colts will benefit from a professional, high-quality coaching set-up, with Josh Barton (Coventry RFC), Toby Trinder (Oundle RFC) and Jon Lowden bringing top-tier rugby knowledge, experience and coaching to the programme.

Training will also provide a genuine Colts-to-Seniors pathway, with opportunities for our young players to train alongside the senior section, learn from experienced adult players and coaches, and begin making that transition into senior rugby in a positive and supported environment.

For us, the goal is simple:

Develop players. Build confidence. Create friendships. And ultimately keep more young people playing rugby.

🤝 WELCOME, NUNEATON

Nuneaton bring their own history, players, coaches and culture, and we’re genuinely excited to welcome them into the Keresley family.

We’re looking forward to getting to know the players, building new friendships and creating a Colts environment where everyone feels part of the team.

The plan will include combined training sessions, friendly fixtures and opportunities to play alongside and against other clubs throughout the season, with more details to follow as arrangements develop.

We also want to make it clear that the door is open.

Too often the conversation about rugby revolves around professional sport, player pathways, and elite levels. They all have their rightful place, but this framing diminishes the value of the grassroots.

Let's take back the narrative. Yes, the Grassroots are messy, but it is carried by passionate people doing the best with the resources available. There is honor and beauty in that.

Great company, plenty of banter and plenty of tries last night… sadly, not many of them were ours! ☹️

When we welcome Nun Old Ed’s for the return fixture at home — hopefully with a full squad return after the holiday season, we can close the gap! 💪🏼

If you’re approaching rugby retirement age, don’t hang up the boots just yet! 👀

Walking Rugby is a great way to keep playing, keep fit, have a laugh and stay part of the rugby family — without quite the same commitment… or punishment! 😂
