1st round cup

The one with No Foul!

Game starts well and luckily a coin toss win gives a slight advantage not having the sun burning out our eyeballs. The Vixens press high with little coming in our own half and it's not long before Jess opens up the score sheet.
A trio of throw ins form Bryda, working the line. The ball goes out of play and it's a Fordley corner. Played in by Richardson. Danie flicks on to Jess and it's 1-0 Vixens!!

Uni are looking decent with some great passages of play but the Vixens are winning individual battles and pushing hard.
Goal kick: the ball looks set to go out and for some reason (known to no one but himself ) Brydaz is focused on his touch.. it's like 1998 he's back playing in the unibond , steps up and brings the ball down like a pro. Only problem being ... He's not on the squad list, he's a bloke... and he's on the pitch 🫣😆 classic Paul.. ref (and Paul's wife) are livid 🫣😆🥴

Unfortunately Bryda comes off from left back early on with a niggle but Hannah steps in and does brilliantly (despite being a little fragile... 🫣).

After left footer Jess attempts multiple shots on goal; Uni keeper making saves left right and centre, she takes the ball around the world and ends in a right foot swipe to hit the goa🙌🏼 oh the irony! 2-0

Jess goes again and this goals has been coming for 2 games! Shout from the sidelines 'get yourself a yard' and then Jess has a determination of 'this one is going in' ... As good as the keeper was, this one was going in! 3-0

Uni press on goal and a challenge sees Nat goes down... Which is more rare than spotting a panther in the wild. Ref gives NO FOUL but the massive stud marks down the back of the achilles begs to differ 🥴

Well done Uni for a great game.
Vixens... We're through to the next round of the cup where we face West Allotment🏆 date TBC.

Great team performance today and continuing our winning streak. 💛💙

Kept a good line throughout. The defence are sometimes forgotten in amongst goals and attacking play but today they worked in unison, covered eachother well and very very little got through on goal 👏🏼

Kieron - stepping in to run the line last minute. Much appreciated 🙌🏼

Hannah - making the post match bait even when she couldn't stop back. Thanks Hannah.🙏🏼

NEXT UP⏭️

Finally… the Vixens are back on home turf for the first time this season and it’s a Cup match against Newcastle Uni. Being the University you’re never sure of the opposition you’re facing but the Vixens have had an excellent start to their season so hopefully can keep that momentum going to advance in the Cup.

Home support is always out in force and we are hoping to see a lot of you back once more for another season!💛💙

SEATON SLUICE LADIES 💙🤍 vs NEW FORDLEY VIXENS 💛💙

Will the real slim shady please stand up?

It's the second game of the week and a second win to start the season off on the front foot.

The sun is shining on new Hartley pitches and as predicted Lauren (who actually lives there 👀) is no where to be seen. She casually sprints across the field 15 minutes till KO, joins in the warmup and then comes the question: where the 🦆 are ya boots??
Quick change and we're ready for KO.

2 mins in and Jess scores assisted by Danie 0-1 but it's a slowish start from the Vixens who seem to take a while to find their stride. Vixens kept creating, Jess smashed one off the crossbar, Danie told to pick a corner and pinged one off the post! Then another breakthrough, Lauren scored from close range after a shot from Steph 0-2.
Jess steps up again '29, assisted by Leona. 3-0
Changes were made with Kat Hannah and Sophie coming on. Immediate impact as Kat gets the ball, takes on her full back , crosses from the byline like a scene from the 90s, and met be Danie at the back post 0-4
We go into half time with a goal from Sophie, assisted by Danie.

HT

Second half and it's more of the same from the Vixens as we continue to keep Sluice pushed into their half. Fordley corner and Burtie goes up from defence. Shouts from Brydaz to make a nuisance if herself and she delivers just that. After the ball is kicked away by Sluice defence, Burtie is there in the edge to mop it up with a perfect strike straight past the keeper. 0-6 (66')

Frustrated after 'one or two' shots that don't quite make the back of the net; Jess takes a different tactic, straight up the middle, weaves past 3 or 4 and takes a well deserved break from missing 🫣😆 0-7

And it's not long before she's assisting Sophie for another 0-8. Kat, tenacious up the right flank, battles hard, crosses it in to Steph and it's another for the Vixens!!

The game ends, 30 degrees, sunburnt and a nice little 9 nil victory for the lasses.

Great start to the season for the Vixens. Let's keep this momentum going when we face Uni this Sunday in the. First round of the cup - this time on home turf. 💛💙

MOM -An all round fantastic team performance, with a number of MOM contenders. But for Natalie to step in at the last min to pop the gloves on sums up the togetherness of this group. Also some great saves, fantastic distribution and communication. 😊

SPECIAL MENTION - Kat: listened to instructions and within 1 minute of coming on did the exact thing that was asked of her, drive past your full back , get that cross in and someone will pop it in the net 😊

Hot off the back of the convincing win on Wednesday, Vixens are straight back into league action this Sunday with another away fixture.

Familiar opponents Seaton Sluice Ladies await, as the Vixens prepare to continue their run of good performances and get another 3 points on the board.

LEMINGTON LADIES 💜🖤 vs NEW FORDLEY VIXENS 💛💙

First game of the season and the usual comedy of errors occurs prior to the game. I mean ... What could possibly go wrong with a 6.30 mid week kick off and a team full of full time working women!!

Who has the kits? Dann?? Nope she has her kit though... It's ok Lauren McLaterson has them 🥴 But fear not!! She's coming with Stoney so will be on time unlike Lauren's normal 8 minutes into the warm up!! Stoney has already
done a recce to double check the venue hasn't changed since last season 🫣

Missy has lost her socks ... And her boots are in the car ... Which is currently in a garage somewhere else 🥴
Oh.. socks found ... And spare boots ... Crisis averted.

Everyone is frantically shovelling pasta in their faces as we bomb down the A1 trying to arrive before KO. And so season 26/27 begins? (Anyone else knackered already??).

We're 60 seconds in and it's over to Danie and Jess to rekindle the playbook of last season with a great cross in from Danie onto Jess to bring us 1 nil up.
Danie assisting again 3 minutes later for Lauren who neatly placed the ball in the back of the net 2-0 great finish!.
14' and Leona dribbles the ball past 2 in the box and hits goal number 3.

20' it's Danie again. Lemington counter attack and a goal that looks set to be saved somehow make the back of the net 1-4. The goal unsettles the rhythm a little and it takes a while to regain composure but at 42' Danie brings us another 1-5...someone is obviously going for top goal scorer this season 👀

The sun is setting so it's a quick break and on to the second half. Sophie takes on several players, strikes the ball but as it bounces off the keeper Danie is there to put it past. 1- 6
Jess follows shortly after and then Danie again 1-8
Somewhere I'm amongst it a rapid right wing run from Lemington allows a brief break off and another goal for the opposition 2-8.

However ... let's not let Danie take all the glory eh? The final 2 goals come from Missy and Sophie who both put in solid shifts.

The game ends pitch black and 2-10. Hopefully the last of the mid week fixtures for us 🙏🏼🙏🏼

It’s the long awaited start of the 26/27 season! And the Vixens kick off with a midweek fixture away to Lemington.
After a fairly positive preseason, we cannot wait to get underway again.

Midweek fixtures are of course awkward to get to not only for the players but as always, any support is appreciated 💛💙
