Thanks to Moving Stretch for sending me down there, here we are going through the Sideways Reach stretch from page 141 of the book. To quote a guy who introduced himself as "Moose", "I've been doing that stretch for years but adding the resistance totally transformed it and felt much better". Moose knows the craic.

The Jubilee Hall Trust's Run For Your Life takes place this Saturday on Hampstead Heath, there's a 2k, 5k and 10k so races for all levels. Registration is open until Thursday evening and participants are able to register on the morning. I'll be there taking the participants through some stretches beforehand and running some Moving Stretch sessions afterwards, like a modern day Mr Motivator, without the leotard......maybe.

Here's a little bit I wrote for the website on how stretching can help runners....

Good study here with regards to preventing recurring hamstring injuries using an eccentric movement, something that we work on a lot during resistance stretching. Instead of acting when you get injured to try to fix yourself, find ways to prevent injuries so you can carry on doing what you enjoy.

"Everyone" knows by now that the Nordic hamstring can prevent a big number of new injuries in football, but this finding is worth sharing again and again.

Here's an idea example of the mobility that can be achieved after just one stretching session. Now, to keep and improve on these benefits a constant practise is needed, that's why we provide stretches to be done at home, after all, while it is always nice and worthwhile to see a bodywork expert, it is also imperative that responsibility is taken by the individual to look after the body in conjunction with specialised treatments. This should be encouraged by anyone you see for an type of treatment.
