Here’s your round-up from this weekend’s action…🏏

The 1st XI came up short against Keymer & Hassocks at Sandy Lane in a high scoring game!
After being put into bat, Keymer piled on the runs with their overseas making a classy 103* in one of the best knocks that’s been seen at home in recent years. Despite getting off to a promising start in the chase, regular wickets fell and despite Scotty making 63*, we fell short by about 50 runs.

The 2nd XI traveled to Plumpton, and were asked to bowl by the hosts on another hot May Saturday. The wickets were shared around, but Rohan Gibbons was the pick of the bowlers as he took 3-13 from his 6 overs, as we bowled Plumpton out for 178. Jacob earned himself player of the match in the chase, as he made a timely 64* to see us home.

Sunday saw us back in T20 action as we made the trip to Southwater, in the Paul Baker T20 Trophy. Southwater opted to bat first and got off to a flyer however we pulled it back excellently to restrict them to 152-6 off the 20 overs, when a score in excess of 200 looked on the cards at one point. Dawson was instrumental in this, taking 3-18 from his 4 overs.
We were always in with a shout, but could never quite ahead of the required run rate in the chase, and fell 20 runs short of our target!

🚨 ANOTHER 60 POINTER!! 🚨

The boys made it back to back 60 point weekends with wins over Portslade and Lingfield 💪🏻

Away from home, Brodie won the toss for the 1st XI and chose to bowl on what was the hottest day of the year so far (cheers skip 🙄)! A fine display saw us bowl Portslade out for 159, Harry the pick of the bowlers with 3 wickets after a heavy Friday on the beers! 🍻
Brodie made his third 50 in as many games to continue his fine start to the league season, and although the chase probably got tighter than it should have, JT and Hendo saw us over the line with a couple of overs to spare! 🙌🏻

At home, Laffs also chose to bowl, and it was not the start he’d have been hoping for as the Lingfield openers put on 130 for the 1st wicket! Newts however got the breakthrough, and after that wickets tumbled as we bowled them all out for 213. Bobby Hollyoak (u14) picked up this week’s man of the match award bowling excellently with figures of 3-33 off 7 overs. 👏🏻
The chase got off to a good start, Kev making another 50 and Neil batting steadily, but both fell in quick succession, leaving Scott and Laffs to see us home!

A glorious day in the sun for both teams! ☀️

🚨 60 POINT SATURDAY! 🚨

Two brilliant performances yesterday saw both teams securing first league wins of the season against Felbridge, and a fantastic 60 point Saturday for the club!

At home, the 1st XI put Felbridge in, and after a strong opening stand from the visitors, picked up regular wickets to bowl them out for 163. Purce picked up 4 wickets, which saw him take the Player of the Match award, and Brodie chipped in with 3. The target was chased comfortably with plenty of overs to spare, with Brodie making 50 for the second time in as many weeks.

Away from home, the 2s also won the toss and chose to bowl. Felbridge made a competitive 199-3 off their 40 overs, Laffs and Kev taking a wicket apiece to go alongside a Jezza run out. Kev opened the batting and slapped the ball to all parts of Blindley Heath to make 68. A flurry of wickets brought James Lentz to the crease who joined Laffs to put on 98 for the 5th wicket to see us home, with James making 59 in the process. James picked up the Player of the Match Award, and we’ve dug out a picture from the archives for it!
