Swansea City - Swansea Stadium 20/08/2025

A few pics I took while we were visiting last week.

43 handheld and aerial photographs of The Swansea Stadium, home to Swansea City.

The Swansea Stadium officially opened in front of over 12,000 spectators on 23 July 2005 when Swansea City, newly relocated from the Vetch Field which had been their home since their Formation (as Swansea Town) in 1912, hosted Fulham in a Friendly match; a quite bizarre choice of opponent for a grand opening event. The first competitive fixture at the ground was a League One match against Tranmere, a match which was won by the hosts 1-0 with 16,733 in attendance.

The initial capacity of the stadium was 20,532, though this has since been increase to 21,088. The record attendance was set on 1 May 2016 when 20,972 witnessed the Swans beat Liverpool by three goals to one in a Premier League fixture.

For those who are unaware, Crawley Museum are currently hosting a follow on from the Dec 23/Jan 2024 Crawley Town Exhibition, and it is well worth a visit.

The exhibition concentrates on the last three seasons and covers our great escape from relegation to the National League in 2023, our promotion to League 1 via the play offs in 2024 and our narrow relegation from League 1 last season.

It has been curated by Steve Leake and Mick Fox.

The Museum, at the northern end of Crawley High Street, is open every Thursday, Friday and Saturday between 10:30am and 4pm and entry is FREE.

CTFC History: All season summary 04/05/2025

Now the season has come to a close I have compiled the stats for the season and updated the CTFC History website.

Here's a brief summary of some of this seasons numbers.

We conceded more goals than anyone else in League One (83) and only Plymouth Argyle (88) conceded more than us in the EFL. Only Peterborough (68) and Mansfield (60) scored more goals than us (57) in the bottom half of League One.

Panutche Camara made the most appearances this season (47 in total) and shared the most league appearances (42) accolade with Rushian Hepburn-Murphy. Charlie Barker made the most overall (41) and league (39) starts.

Our top scorer was Rushian Hepburn-Murphy with 12 goals (including 1 penalty), 11 (1) of which were in the league. Our all time top scorer, Own Goal, contributed nothing to our season for the first time since 2012/13.

Our average home league attendance of 4,392 was a record by over 700 and we had 101,050 through the turnstiles for league matches - the first time we have broken six figures. 82,169, an average of 3,573, of those were Crawley Town fans; another record. Our overall home average of 4,047 was also a record.

8 of our all time top 20 home league attendances, our top two highest ever (normal season) away league attendances (at Birmingham & Bolton), 4 of our top 20 all time away followings and 3 of the top 5 highest crowds we've ever played in front of were seen this season. 7,530 Reds fans, an average of 327, watched us away from home in the league. Our overall average away following was 435, boosted by the 3,255 who travelled to Brighton back in August.

It's worth noting that the 327 average league away following was higher than our average HOME league attendance in every season between 1973/74 & 1983/84.

This seasons stats can be viewed at https://www.ctfchistory.co.uk/stats/2024_2025.html and our side by side all time season summaries can be seen at https://www.ctfchistory.co.uk/stats/season_summary.html

With four home games to go there is a potential statistical milestone on the cards.

We've had 82,600 attendees at our home league games so far this season which means an average attendance of 4,350 over those four matches will see us hit six figures for the first time ever.

Our previous best was the 87,192 who came through the Broadfield turnstiles (which includes the play off semi - it was 81,628 in the normal season) and, prior to that, 81,190 in 13/14.
