What a way to finish our Portimão Box Cup 🇵🇹🥊

Finals day started brilliantly with our little Rosie Hughes winning our first gold medal of the day.

What a performance from Rosie. Strong, sharp and powerful from the first bell, stopping her opponent in the first round.

We knew she was ready for this and she proved us right. We could not be any prouder of her.

Next up was our Toya.

Toya put in an absolute warrior performance against a quality opponent from Spain with far more experience. She gave 100 percent from start to finish, never stopped working, and showed exactly what she is made of.

She comes home with a silver medal, but for us that was a massive win for her. The experience, the performance and the heart she showed was something to be proud of.

Last up was our Moken.

Another masterclass performance. He boxed beautifully for all three rounds, controlled the bout, and showed his level again on an international stage. The decision went the other way despite what seemed to us all as a clear win. It is what it is, we take it and move on.

We could not be prouder of all three finalists yesterday.

As a team, Crewkerne Boxing Club come away from the Portimão Box Cup with:

1 gold medal
2 silver medals
4 bronze medals

That is a massive achievement for our club.

We have gained experience, learned loads, made memories, and shown that our boxers belong on this stage.

A huge thank you to our coaches, parents, sponsors and everyone who helped make this trip possible. These opportunities mean so much to the boxers and they have done the club proud.

Finals day at the Portimão Box Cup 🇵🇹🥊

We go into today’s finals with our last 3 boxers flying the flag.

Should have been 5. A couple of decisions that should of gone our way didn’t but that will not take anything away from the effort, attitude and performances from the whole team.

The boxing from our crew has been quality. Every one of them has represented the Club properly, shown their level, and proved they belong on an international stage.

The atmosphere in camp is still strong, everyone is positive, and we are proud of the full squad.

Now it is about backing our 3 finalists today.

Good luck guys. Enjoy the moment, and leave everything in there.
