This week we travel down the road to Stirling to take on the newly promoted Bannockburn

A club we've faced several times in recent seasons and its always a good one, so if you're thinking about travelling to support the boys in blue and gold we'd definitely recommend it

Here is your overview of what we are up to this month

The match to look out for is against madras the team that could have stopped our 2025/26 league winning season

Each team took a few minutes to settle. An early rip by Robert Cockburn and a break through the centre put Panmure under pressure. A couple of penalties in the Panmure 22 led to a straightforward pass out left for Bob, who went over for the opening score for Crieff. Conversion missed by Pool.

The next 10 minutes saw both teams thinking they remembered how to play flowing rugby. They were mistaken, with many handling errors for the opening game of the season.

Crieff, inside the Panmure 10m, stole the lineout and the centre did the damage, breaking two tackles and then popping to the supporting back row, Ruaridh Kerr for the second try, which was converted.

Panmure finally found some form and put a series of elegant phases together for a real team try. Converted: 12-7.

After a period of wearing each other down, a quick penalty taken by Pool and a break to 5m with a pop to scrum-half Master Scott resulted in a converted try.

Brilliant attack by Panmure down the right was only thwarted by strong tackle on tackle by Captain Pool to prevent what looked like a sure try down the right.

Chaos in the Crieff half, Panmure eventually turned pressure into points with another team effort over the line by the speedy backs. Conversion missed. 19-12.

On the stroke of half-time, a threatening attack by Panmure was thwarted by an interception by the young Full Back, on debut Thomas Pounder, who broke away for an individual try. 26-12 HT.

Five minutes into the 2nd half, the Crieff flyer on the wing, Kyle Mckeggie took a beautifully floated pass to dive over for the second-half opener. Panmure returned the compliment two minutes later with a multiple-phase try, converted. 31-19 with only seven minutes gone.

From the halfway line, a lovely chip and chase by stand-off Pool saw him through for an unchallenged converted try. 38-19.

Penalty for Panmure on Crieff’s 22 led to 10 tough phases for Panmure, with Crieff defending well but ultimately conceding an inevitable try. 38-24.

Two jinks and a pop by warrior Scott, followed by a pop to Ruaridh Hutchinson, resulted in a converted try by Pool. 45-24.

A slightly wayward kick straight out by ho**er Iagen Anderson saw play slow momentarily.

Match Summary

Panmure had arguably greater backline skills, with a fabulous game by their stand-off, controlling the plays and executing some skilfully timed inside pops. But Crieff’s tenacity and individual skill won the day, for a scoreline which didn’t reflect the parity of the game.

Tomorrow brings the start of a new captaincy at the club with Jamie Pool taking the reigns from esteemed captain George Davis who gave his all for this club and always went the extra mile to ensure the club was looked after in the good times and the challenging.

Jamie has been a long time member of the club. He has been here from the start of his first minis session to first senior rugby match and now his captaincy, he knows what it means to be a member of this club and we cant wait to see how he leads the club on the pitch with his wealth of rugby experience and leading by example.

We wish you and the boys the best of luck tomorrow against Panmure in the opening game of the season that kicks off at 14:00 at Braidhaugh with our team sheet being posted later this evening.
