A lovely September day greeted the visit of a strong XL club to the Laggan Park today. Although dry on the day, the recent rain had definitely softened the playing surface, not giving much aid to the bowlers and suiting the strong visiting batting line up well. Wickets were hard to come by and our opponents made 222-4 from their 35 overs. Congrats to Lewis Foster (1-44 from 7 overs) for his first wicket for Comrie with a caught and bowled in his first over. The pick of the bowlers was a returning Andy Dowse with 2-44 from 7. In response, two debutants Andrew Collinston and Lewis Foster opened the batting against some tricky slower bowling going on to make 16 and 13 respectively. Alec Beale top scored with 29 before being stumped, Andy Dowse scoring 28 before holing out to long on. Special mention to debutants Shay Crorkin scoring 25 on his return to the sport after a few years away and Tom Dowse carrying his bat for 1 n.o. In his first ever game of hardball cricket. We ended on 151-7 after 35 overs, losing by 71 runs in the end. Fingers crossed for a repeat of the weather for our last game of the season next Sunday.
