Your child gets in the car after class…
“Mum, guess what? We did this thing, and then Jack did this, and then I nearly fell over but didn’t, and then I kicked a pad… and guess what? Then I punched it too and then you’ll never guess what happened? I drank all my drink!”
And I know it can seem like they’re going on and on and on aaaaannnnd on… And after a long day parenting, working, mind numbing chores and endlessly spinning every plate possible. Finding enthusiasm to talk about yet another karate class isn’t exactly priority number one at the time…
But let me tell you something….
Those conversations are more important than you may ever realise ❤️
It might seem like they’re waffling on and on, but to them, they’re sharing something they’re excited about. Something that’s important to them. With the people they care about more than anybody else on this planet 🥹
And… When children feel like the people around them care about what they’re doing, they’re more likely to feel proud of their progress, enjoy the experience and want to keep coming back.
If you want your child to really take this far; learn the skills, gain the confidence, pass the gradings, win the trophies and achieve goals which may seem unimaginable at first…
Then these car journeys home play a bigger part in this than it seems… 💚🥋
So maybe it shouldn’t be…
“Put your seatbelt on we’re in a rush”
Instead…
“What on Earth is a reverse punch…”
