Our U23's progressed into the next round of the Sussex U23 Cup tonight with a superb 1-3 win away at Mile Oak.

The team including six of our U18' squad and lead superbly by captain Joey Lambden worked their socks off.

Goals in the first half from Jack Harnwell, following up an Ashton Miles free kick, and Jack Hare from distance after a defensive error, had the Brook in control at the Break.

Mile Oak came out fast second half, and the Brook needed to be resilient, the back four of Miles, Lambden, Francis and Bennett stood firm, protected in front by the hard working Harnwell and Weir. When called upon Berwick in goal was superb making three world class saves.

The attacking play of Whittington, Hare, Brady and T Lambden continued to carry a threat, and when introduced substitutes Eren and Will stepped up to the plate and played superbly too.

A real team performance full of heart, grit, determination and quality.

Special mention to Alfie Perry making his debut after a while away and Will Stacey who took a nasty kick to the head and had to come off early in the game.

The future is bright at JBFC 💙

Fantastic night under the lights at the Tester and Jones Sportsground.

The Brook controlled the game from the first whistle playing some superb football.
The Welling goalkeeper performing heroics between the posts, denying the Brook multiple times during the first half.

The second half saw an early red card for Welling for a second bookable offence. The Brook continued to push forward, The keeper continued to deny us... until the 78th minute when Matt Black received the ball back to goal, flicked it up, span and volleyed past the keeper from 12 yards.
A huge roar followed from the stands, the Brook had broken the stubborn resistance!
Five minutes later it was two, Chidi through on goal and slotted in fantastically past the keeper.

2-0 to the Brook, a thoroughly deserved victory, a super performance and we are into the first round proper of the FA Vase!

Many thanks to all that came to support us last night, wonderful to see so many of the JBFC youth teams there on a school night 💙
