*u15’s Match Report*

Crowhurst 9️⃣
Robertsbridge 0️⃣

Today we hosted Robertsbridge in the first round of the league cup.

With Robertsbridge having a tough start to the season and playing in the league below, I think it’s fair to say that they were always going to find today a challenge.

Given the circumstances Aaron and I just asked the boys to do the simple things and take the game for what it was. We wanted to get the ball down and play our passing football.

To be honest the first half was a bit…. well, meh. 🤷🏼‍♂️
The lads did nothing wrong but we didn’t move the ball as fast and as crisply as we could have. That said, we went into the break 2-0 up.

The second half was much improved. We were playing better football and so the goals started flowing. 7 without reply in the half followed.
The most eye catching being a left footed Jenson rocket from outside the box that crashed in off the far post. I also enjoyed Riley’s mazy run to set Louie up and Harley’s wonderful cross for Blake to power in a header at the far post.
It was good to see a fair few of the lads get on the scoresheet. ⚽️

It was also good to be able to give some of lads who don’t always play as much some more game time today and rotate some positions around a bit.

In the end it was a case of job done. No one came away injured, we scored some good goals, & got some more minutes in the tank.

There will without doubt be tougher challenges ahead, but we did what we needed to do & our good start to the season continues - so well done lads 👊🏼

Aaron went for Blake. Did his job defensively, and when he came back on did just as well in attack. Not only did he take his goal with aplomb, he also did the simple things well. More often than not making the right decisions.

I went for Samuel. I’m sure it’s been a super challenging few months for this lad with his eye issue still not resolved. He offered to come along today as we were light on numbers & also stepped up when Dyl had to come off. Great to see him back on the pitch. 💪🏼

Back to league action next week with an away trip to St Leonard’s- I know the lads will want to bring the 🔥 for that game!

*Match Report - U15s*

Pevensey & Westham 2️⃣
Crowhurst 1️⃣0️⃣

After a strong preseason we begun our league campaign away to Pevensey & Westham.

Dispite only having 12 players available, the lads all seemed in good spirits and up for it!

It wasn’t long into the game before it was quite apparent that P&W were also up for it. They were a big, strong, & physical side. With 10/15 gone the game was quite even. However it was the crows who got the break through via a sweetly struck long range effort from Jazzy.

We were shortly pegged back by a somewhat dubious penalty award that was converted.
It was still unclear which team would push on and take control…

But the lads found another gear and started winning their individual battles 👊🏼

We got ourselves in the lead through Isaac, who rose highest to head home a well taken corner by Blake.
3 more goals for the Crows followed in the half to take us into the interval 5-1 up.

Our half time talk was full of praise, and rightly so. In fact it was the lads who suggested we shouldn’t take our foot of the gas!

The boys showed just as much fight & craft in second half.

Another 5 scored and only 1 conceded.
Some of our passing and final balls were quite special.

Final score, 10-2 to Crowhurst.

With a score like that, you could assume that it was just two unevenly matched teams playing. Not at all. P&W ARE a good side, and will pick up their fair share of points this season. It’s just that our lads were simply brilliant today!

We really had to fight and prove that we could deal with that kind of physical pressure. Once we had done that, we then showed what a quality side we are with the ball.

I am so pleased for the lads that they were able to produce that kind of performance today. They have put in a real shift during some tough preseason training sessions, and are now reaping the benefit. 💪🏼

As their coach, I genuinely couldn’t be prouder of every single one of them today.

He typified everything that was right today. Ran himself into the ground from start to finish, whilst also moving the ball quickly and with purpose.

When a striker comes away with 5 goals & 3 assists you know it’s been a good day. His relentless pressing from the front, & quality in front of goal was there for all to see.

Little mention for Seyi & Dyl. What a CB pairing they are proving to be.

Although we picked two MOM’s. It really could have gone to so many of them. Every single player did themselves proud.

*Match Report - U15s*

Crowhurst 9️⃣ v 1️⃣ Hailsham

The lads pre-season trail continued yesterday with a home game v Hailsham. We didn’t know too much about them as a team so we asked the boys to not take anything for granted, be up for it, and go and there and play our game.

Soon enough we were 2-0 up and flying!

We went on to score another 2 to go in to half time 4-1 up. The lads looked sharp all half and the only small lapse in concentration is what led to Hailsham’s goal.

The second half continued much as the first half did. In fact, we were now playing out from the back and building our attacks with some fluid moves down the wings. Particularly down the left with Jasper, Harley & Jenson all linking up well.

5 more goals followed, all good goals but two absolute peaches from Jenson. One beautiful finish where he opened his body up and hit the very (and I mean very) top corner. The other a sweet left footed half volley from just outside the box 👏

One of the most pleasing things was how we won the game in the middle of the park. Roman & Archie K set the tone with this early on in the game challenging well for every 1st & 2nd ball.

In truth we dominated a Hailsham side whose spirit quickly faded after shipping some early goals.

Rob went for Archie who he thought was great today. Never pulled out of a challenge and got the ball down well.

I went for Jazzy. He was superb- particularly in the second half where he was always demanded the ball and started move after move. A confident performance for sure.

Unlucky to Jenson- he had a massive shout for one of these awards. He played very well in the CAM role and as I’ve already said, Scored some great goals 👊🏼

No doubt there will be tougher challenges ahead this season, but for now it more minutes the tank and some good football played.
We now look forward to our final pre-season fixture v Withdean next Saturday.

Sadly wasn't the boys day today

Took the lead after a fast start but couldn't extend the lead with a few good chances going to waste..

Proud of how they kept going until the final whistle though! Was a competitive game from start to finish

Wadhurst U14 0️⃣ - 5️⃣ Crowhurst U14

Yesterday we were hosted by Wadhurst in our last game of the 25/26 campaign.

The boys have been in great form recently so with it being the last game of the season, we were aiming to finish on a high!

The Wadhurst pitch is somewhat on the small side - very small in fact. With this in mind we spoke to the boys about how we were going to adapt our game and make the best of it…..

The boys then started brightly and we looked up for it!

We were playing some crisp & high tempo football, and created a number of openings.
The boys were applying continual pressure and soon got their rewards to go 1 up. The lads carried on their good work and got a further two in the half.

Half time 3-0 Crows

After playing so well in the first half it took lads a while to settle back into that grove.
We were working hard and keeping things tight, but not looking after the ball quite as well.

As soon as we got the ball down and started playing, the goals came.
Two in the last 15mins meant we closed the game out comfortable winners.

Came in from the wing to finish off a move down the opposite flank-like all good wingers do!

Both goals taken brilliantly, looked dangerous all day.

The under 12s finished their league season this morning with a double header away to Wadhurst United.

The boys scored some good goals, frasers in particular was a lovely bit of skill followed by a strike into the bottom corner.

With 1 sub and playing 2 games was always going to be tough but the boys did well to come away with 6 points to finish the season in 2nd place 💙

Attention now turns to next Saturdays league cup final 🏆

Crowhurst U14 7️⃣- 3️⃣ Little Common U14

Yesterday we played our last home fixture of the season v familiar opponents Little Common. Having played them on 3 previous occasions in recent months (2 in the league and 1 in the cup), the boys were well prepared for the challenge ahead….

The pre game message was simple, use the space our large flat pitch affords, get the ball down & move it qu**ky in the final 3rd… and also… enjoy it!

Yet again we got off to a great start. Within 5 mins we were able to take the lead. Louie pounced on a loose ball and fed Riley down the left, he jinked past the oncoming defender then finished across the keeper with his left foot into the bottom right corner.

In terms of how we start games, we seem to have turned a bit of a corner. Instead of the lethargic starts we were prone too early on in the season - we are now starting brightly, often taking the lead in games.

Our second also came down our left. Riley & Harley exchanging a couple of lovely one-twos that led to Harley driving at goal near the byline, he zipped it across the goalmouth which a Common defender unluckily put into his own net.

Our 3rd was another bit of great football. This time down our right flank and involving Jasper & Cal. They similarly exchanged passes and Jasper drove into the box and pulled it back for Cal to slot home.

Our 4th was all about the pass! Riley received the ball with his back to goal and in one fluid movement turned and played a sublime pass with the outside of his foot (trivela) right in-between the Common centre backs and into Callums path. He again coolly finished the move off.

All four of our opening goals were a product of fast flowing & fluid passing football 👏

We go into half time 4-2 up.

Whilst we did play some great football, Common have good attacking players & always looked a threat on the break. So our halftime team talk focused just as much on tightening things up at the back as it did on our attacking play.

The second half continued much the same as the first. We were mainly in control but Common always posing a threat.

We scored a further 3 goals in the second half.

Cal got the first after he pounced on a mistake in the box by a Common defender. He then turned provider for the 6th & 7th. On both occasions running at the defenders and laying it on for a teammate. It was great to see Stan get the last one, he made a great run across his defender to get on the end of Cals whipped cross.

Stan was everywhere today! He was non stop up and down the right wing- not easy given how warm it ended up being. Cleaver going forward and also tracked back when necessary. Chuffed that he got himself on the scoresheet too.

Second week in a row for young man. I have always said that when his confidence is high and he is ‘on it’, he is borderline unplayable.
Brilliant going forward & often starting the team’s attacks.

Little mention for Cal. It’s not often you score 3 and get 2 assists and then don’t get the man of the match award but we felt the other lads deserved their recognition on the day.

Another fine attacking display from the boys & lots of effort across the pitch from the whole team today 👊🏼

A great way to sign off our campaign at home 💪
