Bright and breezy in Maiden City this morning for the Waterside Half Marathon! A lovely route on the banks of the Foyle, which thankfully avoided the worst of the city's hills! Four Glens Runners made the trip and posted some great results!

Glens Runner Mark O'Dell has long been known as a pursuer of extreme challenges and type 2 fun. His latest ridiculous achievement, completed this weekend, is one of the toughest endurance challenges on the planet — the Jánošík - Slovak Xtreme Triathlon in Slovakia, an absolute epic that demands everything from body and mind.

The race began at midnight on Friday, with athletes jumping from a boat into the darkness and tackling a 2.4‑mile swim across a lake. From there, Mark settled into a brutally long cycle: 110 miles featuring 7,400 ft of climbing, with wife Lucy providing support from the crew car throughout. To finish, Mark faced a monstrous final leg — 26 miles of mountain running with 9,400 ft of ascent 🤯 Lucy joined him again for the last 17 miles, helping him through 6,000 ft of climbing as the race pushed into its final, punishing hours.

An extraordinary achievement from Mark, and a brilliant effort from Lucy in support. This was endurance in its purest form — courage, grit, and teamwork from start to finish. Chapeau! 🎩

Off to the Ben again for the mountain men! ⛰️

The Ben Nevis Race has become a fixture in the calendar for our mountain runners and they made the pilgrimage to the highest peak in the UK and Ireland again this year. The race is a real test of stamina going from sea level to the summit at 1,345 metres (4,413 feet) in one brutal 5 mile hit before a leg-busting return to Fort William via the same route.

Cracking runs from the lads who no doubt enjoyed the post-race festivities (essential recovery apparently)🥳

Special mention to Anna Steede for support/photography/morale boosting 😁

More great stuff on Wednesday evening at the Armoy Community Association McCooke 5k at Limepark. Our ladies filled the podium with Niamh Marrs taking the win 🏆, Naomi McCurry🥈 and Kelly-Ann🥉! A fantastic showing from all our runners 😁

On Friday we made the short hop to Carnlough for Glenlough Running Club's Coastal 5k. Superb running from everyone, but a special mention for golden couple Kerrie and Kieran who both clocked PBs 🫶🏻

Some people are just built differently. Take a bow, Lee O’Boyle 👏🏻

Lee has completed the TDS at UTMB in Chamonix, putting in a truly herculean effort across 145km and 9,500m+ of relentless alpine terrain 🏔️ — finishing in an incredible 32:21:45.

A huge challenge, a massive achievement and another one ticked off the bucket list. 💪🏻

The Glens Runners are extremely proud of you, Lee, and couldn’t be happier for you. What an effort! 👏🏻🏔️

A big day out on home turf for Glensmen Padraic Quinn and Declan McNaughton at the We Run Wild Ni Ballycastle to Waterfoot trail marathon. Very few have spent more time on the tough Moyle Way route than this pair. Padraic came home in 05:17 with Declan following shortly after in 05:28 💪🏻

Well done, men! We are super-proud of you both! 🫶🏻💚

Thanks to Ballydrain Harriers for hosting a great race 👏🏻
