Park Update
Unfortunately, we’ve had some more damage to the play equipment in the park overnight. Please bear with us while we work to get this repaired as quickly as we can.
We don’t believe this was necessarily deliberate vandalism. From the damage, it looks more likely that too many young people have been using the swing at the same time, causing the bolt to shear.
We completely understand that young people need places to meet and spend time, but we do need to remind everyone that the play equipment in this park is designed for younger children and simply isn’t built to take the weight of teenagers or multiple people using it at once.
We have already applied for funding to upgrade and improve the equipment in the park, but unfortunately these processes take time. As a small charity, every unexpected repair like this has a financial impact on us too, and ultimately means money has to be diverted from other community activities.
We know just how important this park is to local families, so please be assured that getting this swing, along with the other damaged swing, repaired and back in use is a priority for us.
We’d really appreciate everyone helping us look after the park so it can continue to be enjoyed by the whole community.

Help us build something brilliant this winter!
We’re planning to open up a community space at Woodland Road Community HWB every week, completely FREE, where parents can bring their children along to sit, build, create and play LEGO together.
No screens, no cost and no pressure — just a warm, welcoming space for families to spend some time together and let imaginations run wild! 💛
To help us get started, we’re looking for donations of new or pre-loved LEGO — bricks, sets, minifigures, base plates… anything you’re happy to pass on.
Donations can be dropped into HWB at Woodland Road, or just DM us or message Dan on 07935 076254 and we can arrange collection.
Please share the post and help us build a fantastic little community LEGO club! 🧱❤️

💙 Proud to support the Living with MS programme at HWB
We were delighted to welcome EPP Cymru and the MS Society to Woodland Road Community HWB for the final pilot of their new Living with MS Self-Management course.
It was fantastic to hear that all nine participants completed the course and, importantly for us, that our venue was recognised as accessible, welcoming and well suited to the needs of participants.
A huge thank you to everyone involved for choosing HWB as the home for this important pilot. We’re proud that our community facilities can play a small part in supporting people, building friendships and reducing isolation.
We hope to welcome you back again soon! 💙

I have been happy to turn a blind eye to young people playing football on the courts when not in use during the holidays, and to encourage them not to climb over I’ve asked they come into the centre and ask me to open up for them, which some have done in fairness and are respectful and polite and take care of the facility. However, today some thought it was ok to ride a scooter around. This is going to spoil it for everyone because I will have no choice but to make sure only paid members can access the 3G courts. Please talk to your kids if you know they are coming to woodland rd for the occasional kick about.

☀️ A fantastic Community Fun Day at Woodland Road community centre! 🎉
We were delighted to help facilitate and provide the space for a brilliant Community Fun Day for the Croesyceiliog community here at Woodland Road Community Centre.
A huge thank you to David WIlliams, Cllr Jo Gauden and Cllr Richard Clark for organising and hosting the day, and to everyone who came along and helped make it such a great community event. 💚
This is exactly what we want Woodland Road Community Centre and our grounds to be about — a space for our community to come together, connect, have fun and feel at home.
After all the work that has gone into developing the centre and its grounds, it's wonderful to see the space being used to bring local people together.
We’re really looking forward to seeing many more community events, activities and opportunities taking place here in the future! 🌿🏡

Following a short temporary closure, we've completed a thorough review of the service and introduced a number of improvements to ensure Foodshare remains a safe, welcoming and supportive place for everyone—our volunteers, staff and clients alike.
A huge thank you to everyone for your patience, understanding and kind messages while we carried out this important work. Your support has meant so much to us.
Most importantly, we'd like to thank our amazing volunteers. Your commitment to supporting our community is incredible, and we're looking forward to seeing you all again on Monday.
We know how important Foodshare is to many local people, and we're pleased to be opening our doors once again.
We look forward to welcoming you back. 💙
A statement from our CEO:
"Foodshare has always been about more than providing food—it's about supporting people with dignity, compassion and community. Taking the time to strengthen our procedures was absolutely the right thing to do, and we're pleased to be reopening with even stronger foundations. We look forward to welcoming everyone back and continuing to support those who need us most." Dan.
