Eskvale Members,

Match teas appear to have become a bone of contention for some club members. We have a few options. I've detailed them below after a short review of teas for last season. Please can I point out that teas are for the opposition. Eskvale members would only eat if there were any left overs or each member paid extra to eat as well as the opposition!

We started using Lasswade Rugby Club for teas last season. The ladies section used LRC from our club's birth until a few years ago and we returned last season. As LRC is a licenced premises, their committee asked for 20 adult members to pay an associate membership fee of £20 each. Originally they were looking for £40 associate membership fee but I managed to get the fee down to £20. Some members paid the fee and some didn't. Due to the pitch at Lasswade being unplayable, the men mostly did not use LRC but the ladies did, were warmly received and given free food on a number of occasions.

Our options this season are:-

Esk Valley (Table Table)

Soup and sandwiches with a few chips thrown in is £5.99 per head. They would be happy to have our business. Under 18's welcome. It is a nice facility.

Lasswade Rugby Club

This season LRC are offering Eskvale members the same deal as above, £20 per adult playing member. We can take in our own teas, use the kitchen and as associate members, we can hire the club for any events we wish to run. Under 18's welcome. They want hockey players' back. It's a sporting facility.

I could also speak to them and get pricing for our teas to be provided by LRC. If we were to go down this route, the only fair way to pay for teas, would be to increase subs so every playing member over 18 has to pay. For this to happen, we would need to have an EGM to increase subs.

The Polton Inn

Various meal choices are available. Laura Duffin contacted them earlier this year but didn't receive any costings. I have contacted them tonight but I've not been able to get a price per head as only the Manager or Assistant Manager can decide costs for food quotations and they were not working. Under 18's welcome as long as they are eating. It is a nice facility.

Your feedback is required. Please can you respond with your choice of venue for teas by Wednesday 5pm. If you do not respond and do not like the venue chosen, you will not have cause for complaint!

2017 Winners of Lasswade Community Sports Hub Active Schools Partnership Award

Just spent a great morning @ Watsonians hockey tournament with Eskvale U/12's. It was their first outing and they all played really well. I could see them growing with every game.

Men lost 2-1 away to Falkirk having lead the game for most of the match. Overall a much improved team performance, though.

Men went down 3-0 away to a well organised Cala.

Well earned 1-1 draw today. Had the chance to win it but the post got in the way.
