Training Tonight ⚽️

During tonight’s session, we focused on ball control and first touch.

We started with a basic drill, working on first touches with both the left and right foot, taking the ball into space with each touch. We then increased the intensity by introducing first touch under pressure.

To finish the technical part of the session, the boys played a 2v2 game where each player was limited to just one touch. The final 20 minutes consisted of a two-touch game, allowing the players to put everything they had learned into practice.

I thought the boys worked incredibly hard throughout the session. First touch and ball control are key areas of development, and I believe continuing to improve these skills will really help take their game to the next level.

Our super keeper showed excellent ball control, composure, and decision-making throughout the session, setting a great example for the rest of the team.

We turned up to Rockliffe and won our 3rd consecutive tournament!

Running out of ways to celebrate… boys had to work hard all day against some strong opponents but managed to dig deep and do what they do best lately, win and lift trophies!

Excited to say Luca has decided he wants to join the team. He’s a great player from what we have seen already. He’s spent most of his football days playing down the road at Spraire Lads, where he was a key player for so long in a solid side.

He brings skill, goals and mid level experience to our next chapter as we continue to fly up the divisions. I believe we’ve played against Luca twice, with the boys in blue coming out on top on both occasions. Hopefully now he can help us keep that run going.

Unbelievable performance against a Leeds-affiliated Division 1 team. As expected, the opposition were fast, technical and very good. However, the boys in blue are absolutely on fire at the minute and once again played to their strengths.

Richmond started brightly and deservedly took the lead with a great finish. The response was immediate though, with Aiden grabbing the equaliser after a fantastic move. The game remained competitive throughout the first half, but Richmond edged back in front with another excellent goal to go into half time leading 2-1.

The second half couldn’t have started any better, as the Juniors scored straight from a set piece to level the game at 2-2. From that point on, the boys in blue really started to take control. Wave after wave of attacks put Richmond under pressure and eventually resulted in two more goals, giving the Juniors a commanding 4-2 lead.

To their credit, Richmond kept pushing and enjoyed a strong spell late in the game, creating several chances and even winning a penalty, which was missed. The final word belonged to the Juniors though, as our soon-to-be blue scored his first official goal in normal match play to seal a memorable 5-2 victory.

What a win. What a statement. What a season.

Unbelievable day playing in a mid level tournament against teams high division teams. The boys battled exceptionally well and deserved every bit of success today and won the final convincingly 3-0.

Player of the tournament I think is a no brainer, he ran the show in the first few games, controlled most of the games and scored one of the goals of the season in my opinion, captain fantastic, the one who lifted the trophy for the boys in blue.

First trophy of many this summer we hope. Ever so proud of the boys!

Last game of a great season tonight for the boys, with a change of formation and a few players rotated we got the night kicked off.

Although there wasn’t much good football played, we had attack after attack for the majority of the first half, however it was the visitors who took the lead with a great goal. Shortly after we equalised with a wonder strike from Seth.

Half time I wasn’t too satisfied with the new formation so went back to basics and made a couple of changes. So much so the maestro midfielder bagged his 2nd of the game and doubled his seasons goal tally in 1 game. The game very much opened up at each end and got fairly scrappy at times but it didn’t mean too much for the boys as once again Seth scored a third and made it a Hattrick. Shortly after Nunthorpe managed to peg a goal back but it didn’t mean too much as Liam sealed the deal with a header at the back post.

MOTM - Seth, absolute workhorse tonight, covered every blade of grass, scored a hattrick and ran the show. Unbelievable performance.

Great way to cap off the fantastic season, now onto the summer with plenty of tournaments, friendlies and the new season which I positive the boys will take by storm. Just want to thank all family and friends who have come out this season to support the boys.

Hard one to take today, 4 huge games in 7 days, we turned up today with no expectations against another division 3 team on the biggest 9 aside pitch I’ve ever seen.

The game started and I’d say we were much the better team and could’ve scored 2 as we’d missed 2 sitters. As the game went on Hartlepool grew into the game but still weren’t anything too special and the game was very much even. Juniors kept getting caught out by a little flick on which brought Carson into action. With some action at our end we had our own action as we’d missed easily 2/3 sitters. We could’ve been 3/4-0 up in the first half. On the back of that, it was Hartlepool that took the lead, a little bit later they managed to get a penalty which they blazed over the bar.

Halftime we still had all the belief after all the chances we had in the first half. It started the same as first as the game was end to end with us missing more sitters. Unfortunately Hartlepool doubled their lead which took the wind out of our sails, it was coming to show the team who are used to the massive pitch as our kids were blowing out their chest for the remaining of the game, however, we’re still giving up a big fight. The last 5 minutes Hartlepool scored a quick 2 goals against some tired legs.

All in all I’m immensely proud of these boys for all the minutes they’ve smashed through this past week and the big battles they’ve had. It was a massive achievement getting the quarter finals for this little team. We didn’t look out of place at all today against a team bordering on 2nd in division 3.

MOTM - Seth, despite conceding 4 goals in the end didn’t give them a sniff and covered every blade of grass in defence, sometimes defending against 2v1 3v1 a massive performance again from the Seth and a worthy MOTM.

What a season so far, we’ve got one more game on Thursday to cap off a wonderful season.

Proud of them all this week and this season and we’re only getting better!

As the season comes to an end we have another huge quarter final game against a team 5 divisions higher. Last time out we played a team who is getting promoted in the same league.

The boys had a massive result midweek and are hoping to take all that motivation and momentum into today’s game against Hartlepool. No matter what happens they’ve exceeded all of our expectations for the cup this year, a fantastic beating some very high division teams.

Just hope we can give it another big push and cause another big upset.
