With the new season our U18s squad are looking for more girls to join the team.

With an already exciting squad formed from our existing U18s and our U16s moving up, we have large ambitions to grow the squad and focusing on player development and providing a structured pathway through to senior rugby.

Whether new to rugby, returning to rugby or just fancy a change, come down meet the team and our coaches and see what Darlington has to offer.

Last night our U16s celebrated a very successful season at their end of season Dinner and awards. The evening was a chance for the girls to dress up and the evening focused on us as a team, players, parents, support staff and coaches.

We reflected on our successes:

Durham U16s County Cup Champions

U16s National Cup Quater Finalists (the first time the club has had a girls team in the competition)

Runners up in the inaugural North East & Cumbria U16s girls league

13 girls representing the team and club for Durham U16s PDG

Introducing several girls completely new to rugby into the team and into the sport.

We also celebrated some individual awards:

With a few injuries in the squad, a committed 15 head down to Wensleydale to represent us one last time this year.

It’s been a tough season, no hiding from that — but the ones who’ve stuck it out, kept showing up, and kept believing have shown real heart and determination to drive this squad forward.

To the 15 travelling tomorrow: be proud. You’ve earned that shirt. Now go and finish the season the right way. 💪
