Durham 2nd XI take on Nottinghamshire 2nd XI in a 2nd XI Championship fixture from Monday 24th – Thursday 27th August, with play starting at 11am each day.

Keith Barker struck his 3,500th 3rd XI league run at the weekend.

Congratulations to James Sobota-Tulip who returned impressive figures of 2 for 6 on his debut for Durham under 14s as they took on Northumberland on Monday.

Sunday saw our Ladies team head to Guisborough for a double header and it was a true day of two halves…

First up, softball. This was the closest game either team had seen in a long while, with Guisborough taking the spoils after a narrow, but very well deserved 2 run win.

A break for tea before we took to the field again, this time to a T20 hardball game. We won the toss and elected to bat with sights on setting a decent total for our hosts to chase. A very respectable score of 200 of the 20 overs was set, helped largely by a partnership of 121 for Sophie Craggs and Ruth Chapman, with Captain Craggsy managing to finally securing the elusive century! Retiring “not out” after hitting 101 runs from 44 deliveries.

Some good bowling and fielding managed to keep the hosts to 83 – 5 after the 20 overs. Our wickets being taken by Lou Leach-Hill, Nikki Lawrence, Judith Grant, Alicia Bonham and Katie de la Motte.  

A big win for Darlington Ladies and a huge thank you to Guisborough for being the best hosts and a lovely team to face, see you at our place soon!

Scott Steel took 6 for 57 on Saturday afternoon against Richmondshire. He combined several times with Andrew Sturgeon behind the stumps and he ended with five victims including three stumpings.
