β³ YOUR COUNTY CARD IS GOING DIGITAL
Every playing member of a Durham club gets a County Card β free, as part of the affiliation fee you already pay. It gets you a discounted green fee at over 1,300 clubs across the country.
From now on, the card lives in the Golf Genius app. Physical cards are still available from your Club Secretary while stocks last, but they are not being reprinted. Once they're gone, the app is the only way to get one.
Getting the digital card takes two minutes:
1οΈβ£ Register on the DCGU Golf Genius portal with your WHS/CDH number and surname
2οΈβ£ Download the free Golf Genius app and sign in
3οΈβ£ Menu β County Card β add to cart β check out (Β£0, no payment details needed)
4οΈβ£ Your card appears in the app β show it on your phone when you book or arrive
43 Durham clubs take part, and your card is valid until your next subscription renewal. Pay your subs, refresh the app, and the expiry updates itself.
Green fees are set by each club β usually the members' guest rate β so always ring ahead to check rates and availability.
Switch now and you'll never lose it in a jacket pocket again. π±

ποΈββοΈππ TEAM BLACKWELL AT Woodhall Spa Golf ππποΈββοΈ
A great photo of Leighton Hunter, Tobias Slade and Stephen Bates from their trip to Woodhall Spa, where the three lads represented Durham County Golf Union in the England Golf Junior Champion Club event.
The boys did well, but on this occasion the result really wasn't the most important part of the story.
Getting there in the first place was the achievement.
Having earned the opportunity following Blackwell's success in retaining the P.D. Cowell Trophy, these three young golfers got to represent their county and their golf club on a national stage, competing alongside some of the best juniors in England.
That's something they should be incredibly proud of, and we're certainly proud of them.
They've represented Blackwell Grange Golf Club, the junior section, and Durham County Golf Union brilliantly, and experiences like this are what junior golf is all about.
Three Blackwell juniors. Representing their county. Playing at Woodhall Spa Golf in a national championship.
Not bad going at all, lads. πππ
Well done, Tobias, Stephen and Leighton. Another brilliant experience and another proud moment for Team Blackwell. ππβ³

πβ³ ANOTHER BIG WIN FOR AARON & ACED GOLF ACADEMY! β³π
Huge congratulations to PGA Pro Aaron Cox and ACED Golf Academy, named Golf Coaching Academy of the Year 2026/27 in the North England Prestige Awards! ππ
The judges recognised ACED for its outstanding commitment to player development, coaching excellence and, importantly, its contribution to growing golf across the North East.
And weβre very proud that so much of that work happens right here at Blackwell Grange Golf Club. π
Aaronβs coaching caters for everyone from someone picking up a club for the very first time through to established competitive golfers, but his work developing junior golf has been particularly special.
At Blackwell, youngsters have access to a fantastic environment in which to learn and develop, including:
β³ A dedicated six-hole Academy Course
ποΈ Extensive putting and short-game practice areas
π― A floodlit Toptracer driving range
π TrackMan swing studio
π Regular competitions and opportunities to progress into club and representative golf
π¨βπ©βπ§βπ¦ A thriving junior section and Academy
ποΈ Professional coaching and structured development pathways
And these facilities certainly arenβt just for the kids.
Whether youβre 6 or 76, a complete beginner, returning to golf after a few years away, trying to knock a few shots off your handicap, or looking for serious performance coaching, Blackwell Grange Golf Club has the facilities and expertise to help.
The award judges praised the Academy for creating βclear progression pathways for young golfersβ and for helping players improve while developing a lifelong enjoyment of the game.
That last bit probably sums it up rather nicely.
Golf should be something you can start young and enjoy for the rest of your life. β³
Another thoroughly deserved recognition for Aaron, following his England Golf honours, and another fantastic endorsement of the junior and coaching programme being built here at Blackwell Grange.
Well done, Aaron and ACED Golf Academy - Golf Coaching Academy of the Year 2026/27! πππ
Interested in giving golf a go? Come and see whatβs happening at Blackwell. Beginners, juniors, and experienced golfers are all very welcome.

π Spot the Greens Team... You Can't Miss Them! β³π
If you're out on the course this week and think you've accidentally wandered onto the runway at Magaluf Airport... don't worry.
It's just our Greens Team in their brand-new summer kit!
The lads have swapped the traditional yellow for... bright pink! π
Rumour has it they're either:
βοΈ About to board a Ryanair flight for a stag weekend...
π¬ Or auditioning for the budget version of The Full Monty...
Before anyone starts blaming management...
They chose the colour themselves!
Apparently pink attracts far fewer flies than yellow, which makes a lot of sense when you spend all day working outside in the heat.
One thing's for certain...
π You definitely won't miss them!
So next time you see the Pink Panthers of Blackwell, give them a wave... π
(They might even wave back... once they've stopped laughing at each other.)
ππ
