Please take a moment to read and share this advice. The more people who see it, the more we can all help reduce the risk of wildfires across Kent👇

Can you help us protect our country parks from wildfires❓

After a long, hot and dry summer, the risk of wildfire across Kent remains high.

Our country parks are great places to get outdoors, enjoy a walk, have a picnic and spend time with family and friends. But when grass, woodland and other plants become very dry, a small spark can quickly become a serious fire.

That’s why we’re asking everyone visiting our country parks to take a little extra care. Please help us reduce the risk

Want to know how you can help❓

🔥No barbecues or open fires

🚭 Put ci******es out safely and never drop them on the ground

🗑️Take your litter home, particularly glass bottles

👀 Look out for signs and advice from our rangers and park staff

📞 See a fire? Move somewhere safe then call 999. Don't try to tackle a large fire yourself

Did you know picnics are a safer choice❓

Pack a picnic lunch instead of bringing a barbecue. You can still find a shady spot, enjoy some food and make the most of being outdoors, while helping us look after the park around you.

Do you know how quickly a wildfire can spread❓

Dry grass, scrub and woodland can catch fire very quickly. Wind can then help flames spread, putting people, wildlife, trees and nearby homes at risk. A few simple choices from all of us can make a big difference.

Please enjoy our parks, take care and help us keep Kent’s countryside safe.

Our lovely Preston Hill goats have had their biannual full health checks! Always a pleasure to get up close and personal with them and also gives us time to discuss their workplan for the upcoming year. As always their goals are to graze the chalk grassland, keep the scrubby vegetation down and look pretty! 🐐

They've also been moved to pastures new - Preston Farm Field. There is no waymarked trail through this field but as always please keep dogs under control in the park.

Please help protect our Country Parks

During this warm, dry weather, the risk of fires is much higher. Fires and barbecues are not permitted in any Kent Country Park.
Even a small flame or disposable barbecue can cause serious damage to grassland, woodland and wildlife.

So if you’re planning a visit, please leave barbecues, campfires and any other naked flames at home.

Thanks for helping us protect these special places for everyone to enjoy
