At the family’s request, we are sharing these details for any of Matt’s football friends who wish to attend to pay their respects.

Our thoughts remain with Matt’s family and friends at this difficult time 💙

Everyone at Darvel FC are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Matt Craig, a former committee member and lifelong supporter of our football club.

Having served on the committee, Matt gave his time to the club and remained a loyal supporter throughout his life. People like Matt are an important part of what makes a football club so special. The memories and connections built over many years will never be forgotten.

On behalf of everyone at Darvel FC, we send our deepest condolences to Matt’s family, friends and all who knew and loved him.

Our thoughts are with them all at this incredibly sad time💙

- A minute’s applause will be held before Saturday’s match as a mark of respect and to honour Matt’s memory. -

This week’s Photo of the Week comes from the Third Round of the South Challenge Cup between Caledonian Braves and Darvel FC, and was chosen for one simple reason — it captures the emotion of football at its most powerful.

Frozen at the height of celebration, the Darvel player is completely airborne, arms out, face full of emotion, with the reaction around him helping to tell the wider story of the moment. It is the kind of image that goes beyond simply recording what happened; it captures how the moment felt.

That combination of timing, expression, movement and atmosphere is exactly what we look for in our sports photography. It is spontaneous, energetic and full of character — a split second that might otherwise be gone in an instant.

For us, this image represents what PEACOCK Sports Photography is all about: capturing the action, telling the story, and preserving the moments that matter.
