Halloween might have passed but this horror just showed up in the workshop! π»
Cutting the steerer tube to length revealed some frightening cavities in the carbon. Not a repairable fault, so a new fork required. Hopefully the QC is better on the next one π€

Another carbon frame, another undersized BB shell...
The tools to correct this ain't cheap and not many shops I've worked in have them in their workshops either. But if you're chasing perfection... π€·ββοΈ

Could it be? The ultimate winter road bike?
Kinesis titanium GTD frameset β
Schwalbe 30c tubeless tyresβ
Full length mudguards β
Shimano 105 Di2 β
It was a real joy building this. The accuracy of the mitres and the overall finish trumps a lot of big name carbon bikes I've built π€ And the final weight could rival them too!

My new favourite tool. Expensive? Yes. But works better than any other piston press out there. Chapeau SRAM π

Another SRAM crank, another hopeless plastic preload collar... Muc-Off coming to the rescue again on this one with their all aluminium construction preload ring.
Fits all SRAM, Easton and RaceFace cranks that use a 30mm or 28.99mm DUB axle diameter.
No more skipping over the threads or stripping the little securing bolt threads π

Had this little Specialized Sirrus in recently for its annual service.
As part of the works which included a new Shimano wheelset, the rear SKS Chromoplastic mudguard stays had broken away from the blade after the rivets failed.
Luckily the blade and stays were in good shape, so the old rivets were removed and new ones installed. An effective fix and one that saved around Β£40 vs buying a new set π

Eek! More Reverb Resus happening this weekend. Looking at the state of these internals, I think this Reverb may never have been opened since it was made in 2017 π¬π¬
Full tear down and rebuild with the new V4 IFP to stop that Reverb squish and it's good to go.

Sometimes it's the parts you can't see that need the most attention.
