Did you go to the beach on your summer holidays? Did you get to fly for free over the beach in a fully aerobatic aircraft? If you joined us you could have!

This summer our cadets took part in various flying and gliding activities, along with camps, adventure training, a trip to Belgium and representing the UK in an exchange to the USA. All you need is to be in S1 or above and aged 12-16.

Little Rissington Multi-Activity Camps: Turning Challenge into Opportunity for RAF Air Cadets When the cancellation of RIAT 2026 was announced, many cadets understandably felt disappointed at missing out on one of the highlights of the RAF Air Cadets calendar. ✈️The Longest Day ✈️

On the 20th of June, Sgt Harris and Cdts Hill, Mungall, and Watson joined cadets from across the Scotland & Northern Ireland Region and North Region of the Royal Air Force Air Cadets for the annual 661 Volunteer Gliding Squadron Longest Day event at RAF Kirknewton.

The aim of the day was to get 100 cadets airborne between sunrise and sunset! 🌅

Being part of the first group to arrive meant an incredibly early start, but every minute was worth it. All four of our cadets enjoyed the day and all were able to get 2 launches each, making the most of the fantastic flying conditions and experiencing the thrill of gliding from the moment they took to the skies. Judging by the smiles throughout the day, it's safe to say they had a fantastic day! ✈️
