Sending kids home because a skirt is apparently an inch too shortโor threatening to force girls into trousersโfeels completely over the top to me.
Let's be real....families are struggling right now. Not everyone can afford to fork out for brand-new clothes every time a rule shifts, and plenty of kids rely on hand-me-downs.
When I was a kid, girls wore skirts pretty short and us lads turned up in Nike athletic hoodies, and yet somehow we all still managed to walk through those doors and get our school work done.
At the same time, I do get it. Teachers have an incredibly hard job, and rules are rules. But schools and kids need to have a genuinely good bond for school life to be easy and enjoyable on both sides. Constantly policing wardrobes destroys that trust.
School is hard enough as it is, and you never really know what kids are actually dealing with behind closed doors. Plus, working parents canโt just drop everything and rush home in the middle of the work day just because a childโs hemline is off by a centimeter.
Do you agree schools shouldn't be so strictโif uniforms are worn they should be okโor do you think kids should be sent home?
For me, if the kids are in school on time and get their heads down and work hard, show respect and try their best that's far more important. A phone call to parents to go over any uniform issues with them is the way to go about it, not punishing kids without knowing the full details.
I wanted to post this as many kids at my club have had this issue this week. Hopefully it all resolves itself quickly so the kids can concentrate on learning and the teachers on teaching.
That is all for today....

Thursdays dedicated sparring class for our 8yrs and under is such a blast! No fear from these kids right here ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐
What I loved most tonight was also that the few older kids that were in stepped up and encouraged our 4-5yr olds all the way through ๐๐ป It's now time for our 10-12yrs so let's carry this night on ๐ฅ๐ฅ

Following on from the night before......
I wanted to post today to show some love to all of the fighters, teammates and supporters the club has ๐๐ป
We all have stuff going on in our lives, families, worries, work, schooling but when it's fight day it's a day we can all collectively shut off from the noise and be there for each other and give our our minds something else to focus on.
They say sport is therapy, not speaking for everyone else but for me personally I 100% agree. Thank you to everyone who step into the club, thank you to all the fighters, parents, partners and siblings. One man fought last night but was supported by a whole club and this went a very long way and never goes unnoticed ๐๐ป Thank you to the lads who made it to the fight last, it's their turn next! In just a few weeks time we go again, this time with a full team of juniors and adults where the support will be on another level, that's guaranteed ๐ฏ I love this club and the people โค๏ธ๐ฅ๐ฅ Rest easy today/tomorrow Jack, back to the grind from Wednesday....Jason

Jack of all trades, master of non.....that's the quote right?
As a Father myself I know all too well that children want to be involved in everything, as parents we want to give them opportunities to try new things...I get that. With that being said, since I opened my club I've turned down more parents enquiring than I've probably booked in to come along for one simple reason. We don't play kickboxing! The sport is life long, no shortcuts and requires dedication, time management and massive input from the member and parents. Once a week training at my club for kids 8 years+ simply isn't an option here. If your child had one maths class per week would you expect them to get an A in any test? Absolutely not! I'm straight to the point if this topic ever comes up 'Little Johnny does football, rugby, cricket, gymnastics and we could only fit in one class with you'. Answer....'Unfortunately, we're not the club for Johnny'. 90% of what is taught will simply be forgotten by next week, teammates will surpass them, confidence will be lost and ultimately money will be wasted and lil Johnny will quit training. I wanted to post this for anyone looking in to potentially join in the future. If you want an extra social event, just something for the kids to do then that doesn't qualify to join. If you have a deep 'why' have time to invest in your children, will be there through the good and bad times and willing to be their support system when training gets hard and can invest 2-8 hours per week depending on how fast you want them to progress then I look forward to hearing from you. Martial arts builds confidence, self esteem, fitness as well as the countless other benefits but it won't with minimal time and investment. You get out what you put in. That is all. Jason ๐ฅ
Ps, this isn't aimed at anyone personally just an observation over years of running my club.
